POSITION SUMMARY:

NYFA at Harvard is looking for an organized skilled and efficient Equipment & TA Manager. The Equipment & TA Manager is responsible for hiring training and supervising the Technical Assistants (TAs) who assist and advise students in the production of digital film shoots. TAs are role model figures for our energetic artistic student body and must commit to helping maintain an educational safe and fun environment for the campers. It is the Equipment & TA Managers responsibility to ensure all TAs understand their role and to intervene and provide feedback when they TAs are not fulfilling their job responsibilities in a satisfactory manner. Additionally this position will oversee the coordination and maintenance of equipment used on a daily basis for the summer programs as well as transportation of campers to and from campus when necessary.

The Summer Programs at Harvard offer workshops in filmmaking acting photography musical theater and animation and include Teen Summer Camp offerings for campers aged 1417 years old. TAs are role model figures for our energetic artistic camper body and must commit to helping maintain an educational safe and fun environment for the campers.

REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate and oversee all aspects of the hiring process for Technical Assistants (TAs)
  • Develop an onboarding process for newly hired TAs (Training orientation uniform distribution etc.
  • Establish & oversee of safety protocols and shooting guidelines to ensure an effective production environment that guarantees quality deliverables for students
  • Develop and implement standard operating process for equipment checkouts for days
  • Determine equipment needs for classrooms and ensure classes are prepped on a daily basis
  • Catalog equipment and maintain inventory for the duration of the summer programs
  • Ensure equipment is in working condition and process replacement requests when needed
  • Create and maintain effective channels of communication with the Edit Lab
  • Schedule TAs in accordance with classroom needs after class activities drop off and pick up
  • Coordinate with Teen Residential Director for airportrun needs and schedule accordingly
  • Coordinate with the Director of Summer Programs to determine additional TA scheduling needs outside of instruction and transportation such as registration orientation graduation etc.
  • Maintain various logistics necessary to ensure the smooth running of production including airport pickups graduation screenings etc.
  • Assist with build out and classroom setup before the program and breakdown after the program
  • Approve and review TA staff payroll biweekly
  • Maintain oncall availability throughout the duration of the camps including weekends

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds including students faculty and staff.
  • A strong commitment to and enthusiasm for engaging with young artists and mentoring their artistic ambitions and talents
  • Ability to work hard responds to emergencies and always maintains the safety and educational environment for the students
  • Strong technical grasp of digital cinematography
  • Strong technical grasp of film equipment such as HMC 5D Mark II C300 shotgun mics tripods onboard shock mounts cstands boom poles etc.
  • A basic understanding of all summer programs
  • A working grasp of Final Cut Avid and Adobe Premiere is a plus understand written procedures write routine documents and speak clearly; and understand multistep written and oral instructions
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent skills in database management and record keeping
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to meet and serve the public both in person and by telephone tactfully and effectively

EXPERIENCE EDUCATION CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Film/Video Production Experience
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Prior experience of a NYFA Technical Assistance position preferred
  • Experience working in a fast paced multitasking result driven environment
  • Attention to detail and team member mentality
  • Advanced proficiency Microsoft Office Suites and GSuite.
