The University of Miami Health System UHealth Department of Pediatrics Infectious disease has an exciting opportunity for a FullTime Clinical Dietitian 3.
The Clinical Dietitian 3 promotes good dietary health and treats medical conditions by devising eating plans for patients based on the science of nutrition. The Clinical Dietitian 3 provides nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy to patients to further their medical and personal goals. The incumbent also provides leadership and oversight to less experienced staff and acts as a resource of knowledge regarding patient nutrition.
Core Responsibilities:
Confers with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate medical and nutritional needs of patients.
Assesses the nutritional needs of patients and develops and implements nutritional care plans.
Documents the nutritional status and needs of hospitalized and outpatients using established standards of care and practice guidelines.
Initiates and follows patients for nutrient intake analysis and makes recommendations for continuance progression or initiation of alternate therapies.
Writes orders for diet supplement enteral/parenteral nutrition and laboratory data per hospital policy.
Provides counseling and education to patients and their families regarding various topics in medical nutrition therapy and drugnutrient interaction.
Serves as a clinical nutrition resource and subject matter expert to physicians patients and staff.
Participates in departmental performance improvement activities and training.
Adheres to University and unitlevel policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions:
Provide direct dietary consultation to patients and their families on required nutrition and modified diets including the selection and preparation of food in relation to nutritional needs family income home facilities cultural food patterns and development of selffeeding skills to promote optimal growth and development of the child.
Provide recommendation to the professional staff related to the nutritional aspects of patient care and carry through with the appropriate documentation and followup as needed.
Provide nutrition lectures to patient groups and professionals as needed
Serve on multidisciplinary team for patient treatment planning
Responsible for the development and maintenance of nutrition documentation records and procedure manuals.
Develop nutritional educational materials at a basic literacy level to utilize with patients and families.
Perform other program or clinical operations duties as assigned.4 Conduct experiments

CORE QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in relevant field PhD preferred
Certification in relevant specialty or field
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to analyze organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
Ability to work evenings nights and weekends as necessary.
