Job Description

Description

The Monteith Lab in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Tennessee is seeking a postdoctoral research associate. This is a fulltime position. The researcher will be primarily responsible for carrying out experiments and aims of a funded NIH award using mouse and tissue culture models to study hostmicrobe metabolic and inflammatory interactions involving the bacterial pathogen Staphylococcus aureus. The researcher will use molecular genetic and cell biology techniques in their research.

The initial appointment is for 1 year with funding available to extend up to 3 years. The lab and PI will support efforts to obtain independent funding through NIH or other related foundations.



Responsibilities

The associate will collect data communicate with other investigators write grants and manuscripts and assist in advising and training of graduate and undergraduate research students.



Qualifications

A PhD in immunology microbiology cell biology or a related field must be completed by the starting date of the position and the candidate is expected to have experience with bacterial genetics or immunology as well as a strong track record in publishing peerreviewed papers in these fields.
