A bit about the role
The Gael Og Youth Service in Inverness is a joint initiative led by Action for Children Police Scotland and Social Work Services as part of the Criminal Exploitation Intervention Service. This voluntary programme is dedicated to supporting vulnerable children and young people who are at risk of or already involved in serious criminal activity.
Adopting a personcentred approach the service prioritises individual development by offering tailored opportunities that address each persons unique needs. Our Young Person Practitioners armed with specialised expertise collaborate with various agencies to deliver comprehensive support. With resilience empathy and adaptability they tackle the challenges faced by young individuals providing assistance even beyond standard working hours.
Key objectives of the programme include delivering personalised onetoone and group sessions designed to empower young people with essential skills for making positive choices. Through targeted interventions the team seeks to help individuals overcome both personal and practical barriers that hinder constructive life paths. The ultimate goal is to support reengagement in education training or employment reducing the likelihood of criminal behaviour and fostering a brighter more positive future.
How youll help to create brighter futures
As a Young Persons Practitioner youll make a meaningful impact on young peoples lives by recruiting them into the Criminal Exploitation Intervention Service with a focus on equality and diversity. Youll handle assessments care planning and regular progress reviews providing tailored support when necessary. Building strong positive relationships youll act as a role model to challenge negative behaviours and promote personal growth and positive decisionmaking.
Your role will include identifying and connecting young people with local resources such as education training providers and employment opportunities while collaborating with third parties to address specific needs. Youll also provide mentoring support helping young people prepare for employment by assisting with practical tasks like obtaining identification and planning travel.
Additionally youll manage a caseload prioritising tasks effectively completing necessary documentation and ensuring health and safety regulations are met. Through regular visits positive interventions and active promotion of the Criminal Exploitation Intervention Service to partners and agencies youll empower young people to overcome obstacles and build brighter futures.
