The Ottoson Middle School is looking for a dynamic educator to join the team as an Assistant Principal in the summer of 2025. Ottoson Middle School is a Grade 7 and 8 Middle School. The Assistant Principal loops with each grade (e.g. the Grade 7 Assistant Principal inwould be the Grade 8 Assistant Principal in.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Masters Degree in Educational Administration/Leadership or equivalent.
2. Valid Massachusetts License for Principal/Assistant Principal at the Middle School Level.
3. Five years of educational experience with three years of successful Middle School experience.
4. Demonstrated effectiveness in planning scheduling and organizing projects.
5. Demonstrated effectiveness in oral and written language in interpersonal and large group settings and in all writing for internal and external audiences.
6. Preferred qualification Experience with PowerSchool Power Scheduler
REPORTS TO: Principal Middle School
JOB GOAL: To support the principal in the mission to develop coherent challenging developmentally appropriate curriculum and to provide a safe orderly and respectful learning environment for all students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To facilitate all faculty projects involving curriculum improvement and professional development.
2. To effectively resolve daytoday school community issues involving students teachers staff and parents.
3. To carry forward the District and Building Goals.
4. To assist with the supervision of student conduct within the school and oversee fair and consistent implementation of discipline code keep records of all disciplinary actions.
5. To supervise and evaluate teachers at the direction of the principal.
6. To consistently demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills.
7. To participate in conjunction with faculty department heads assistant principal and principal in the development of the school budget.
8. To oversee and coordinate the implementation of programs for special education students and students on 504s including participation in relevant IEP and student support meetings.
9. To support the scheduling process including but not limited to making schedule changes entering data into Power School. 10. To perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
Terms of Employment: Assistant Principals in Arlington work 205 days which includes 180 student days 3 professional days and 22 additional days to be worked beyond the school year.
