Job Description
Title of Position:
Job Coach Marlborough High School
Work Year:
If employment continues into the 202526 School Year the regular work year for Paraeducators will be 214 days including a Summer Program.
Salary:
$23.00 per hour as per the Paraeducators Contract
Organizational Relationshipor Line of Authority:
Directly responsible to the building principal and through him/her to the Director of Student Services or his/her designee which can include but is not limited to the Education Team Leader or Program Teacher
Statement of Duties:
- Support the special education teachers and related staff in developing prerequisite skills for job placement.
- Assist special education students individually and in groups in acquiring preemployment skills and reinforcing skills to increase independence.
- Work collaboratively with community businesses and organizations to maintain community based vocational opportunities for students.
- Accompany students into the community for training in community vocational and social skills.
- Monitor student performance in a variety of work settings.
- Maintain a daily log on student performance.
- Assist with Activities of daily living as necessary (toileting dressing and transferring as necessary.
- Drive school van to job sites as necessary.
- Offer input to the Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each student.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws and student safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Educational Team Leader special education staff and policies of the Marlborough School Committee.
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree or 48 College Credits
- Experience working with children and/or young adults with disabilities
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and safely transfer students over 100 pounds in assisting with activities of daily living.
- Bilingual Preferred (Spanish and/or Portuguese)
- Must be a Team Player as a respectful part of a team in demonstrating constructive collaborative behaviors.
- Good physical agility which requires the following: frequent bending sitting standing kneeling and lifting and occasional running.
- Able to work in both indoor and outdoor settings.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of student learners.
- 7D License to transport students in a school van preferred but not required
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
