Job Description

Persons in these roles are expected to spend part of their time onsite in our Seattle offices and may occasionally work remotely from their home in the Greater Seattle area. Are you passionate about taking artificial intelligence to the next level to solve problems that require modeling reasoning and explanation We are looking for talented researchers interested in applying their skills towards the next generation of intelligent systems and pursuing our mission of AI for the common good.

Ai2s OLMo team seeks a creative Postdoctoral Young Investigator who has a strong interest in natural language processing.

The OLMo team collaborates frequently with researchers on Ai2s other teams focused on commonsense reasoning and the Semantic Scholar engine among others. Our main office has unique access to researchers at the University of Washington only 1.5 miles away. Researchers excited about such internal and external collaborations are encouraged to apply.

At Ai2 you will be working with worldclass AI researchers and talented software engineers. We perform teambased ambitious research with a mandate to strive for big breakthroughs not just incremental progress in an exciting and interactive workplace.

The Young Investigator position:

  • The Allen AI Young Investigator is a postdoctoral program offering unique benefits. The program will enable you to balance working collaboratively on an Ai2 project while pursuing an independent research agenda.

Who We Are:

The OLMo team envisions languagecentered AI that equitably serves humanity. We work to improve NLP systems performance and accountability and advance scientific methodologies for evaluating and understanding those systems. We deliver highimpact research of our own and masterfullyengineered opensource tools to accelerate NLP research around the world. We are leading the Open Language Model (OLMo) project in collaboration with other teams across Ai2. Following the launch of OLMo in February 2024 we are now embarking on furthering research to provide scientific insights and solutions on how to substantially close the gap with the stateoftheart in adapted models.

Your Next Challenge:

The essential functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Dedicated Ai2 mentor: Mentorship in research grant writing and more
  • 50 collaborative work on an Ai2 project
  • 50 work on your own projects
