POSITION SUMMARY:

The New York Film Academy NY Kids Summer Program is looking for an organized skilled and efficient Kids Equipment & TA Manager. The Equipment & TA Manager is responsible for hiring training and supervising the Technical Assistants (TAs) who assist and advise campers in the production of digital film shoots. TAs are role model figures for our energetic artistic student body and must commit to helping maintain an educational safe and fun environment for the campers. It is the TA Managers responsibility to ensure all TAs understand their role and to intervene and provide feedback when they TAs are not fulfilling their job responsibilities in a satisfactory manner. Additionally this position will oversee the coordination and maintenance of equipment used on a daily basis for the Youth Program as well as transportation of campers to and from campus when necessary.

New York Film Academys Kids Summer Camps provide intensive programs in filmmaking acting animation game design musical theatre and photography for campers of ages 10 to 13 years old.

PartTime (ASAP) FullTime Seasonal 6/23/2025 8/22/2025

  • Facilitate and oversee all aspects of the hiring process for Technical Assistants (TAs)
  • Develop an onboarding process for newly hired TAs (Training orientation uniform distribution etc.
  • Establish & oversee of safety protocols and shooting guidelines to ensure an effective production environment that guarantees quality deliverables for campers
  • Develop and implement standard operating process for equipment checkouts for days
  • Determine equipment needs for classrooms and ensure classes are prepped on a daily basis
  • Catalog equipment and maintain inventory for the duration of the summer camp program
  • Ensure equipment is in working condition and process replacement requests when needed
  • Create and maintain effective channels of communication with the Equipment Room & Post Lab
  • Schedule TAs in accordance with classroom needs after class activities drop off and pick up
  • Coordinate with Residential Director for airportrun needs and schedule accordingly
  • Coordinate with the Director of Kids Camps to determine additional TA scheduling needs outside of instruction and transportation such as registration orientation graduation etc.
  • Maintain various logistics necessary to ensure the smooth running of production including airport pickups graduation screenings etc.
  • Assist with build out and classroom setup before the program and breakdown after the program
  • Approve and review TA staff payroll biweekly
  • Maintain oncall availability throughout the duration of the camps including weekends

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES:

  • A strong commitment to and enthusiasm for engaging with youth filmmakers and mentoring their artistic ambitions and talents.
  • Ability to work hard respond to emergencies and always maintain the safety and educational environment for the students
  • Strong technical grasp of digital cinematography
  • Strong technical grasp of film equipment such as HMC 5D Mark II C300 shotgun mics tripods onboard shock mounts cstands boom poles etc.
  • A basic understanding of all summer camp programs
  • A working grasp of Final Cut Avid and Adobe Premiere is a plus

EXPERIENCE EDUCATION CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Film/Video Production ExperienceValid Drivers License
  • Prior experience of a NYFA Technical Assistance position preferred
  • Experience working in a fast paced multitasking result driven environment
  • Attention to detail and team member mentality
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites GSuite and Zoom
  • Experience and comfortability with students ages 1013
