SUMMARY:
The instructional assistant provides assistance to the classroom teacher(s) in the management and instruction of students; performs related tasks as required and directed and; performs work under the direction and supervision of the classroom teacher(s); however the assistant may independently carry out particular routine aspects of the instructional program including schoolwide duties as assigned.

Duties performed typically in school settings to include classrooms gyms library cafeteria transportation (dropoff and pickup) and recreational areas. While performing this job the employee is regularly required to stand walk sit use hands to finger handle or feel reach with hand and talk or hear; light lifting up to 40 pounds and other limited physical activities are required. Occasional movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required.

Daily personal and close contact with students to provide classroom management and learning
environment support is required. Regular contact with other staff members is required. While performing the duties of this job the employee may be exposed to germs and potentially blood borne pathogens.
