Age Specific Responsibility
Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned department. Summary
Assumes full responsibility for evaluating patients need for speech therapy. Plans and executes individual treatment programs in accordance with ASHA and SLP scope of practice. Keeps treatment skills upgraded through continuing education evidence based research and program development. Perform job responsibilities in accordance with the programs strategic objectives and goals to carry out organizational strategic objectives
Essential Job Responsibilities
Provide patient care treatment and services within the scope of their license certification or registration and as required by Federal and State laws and regulations.
As a Therapist III the employee supports the overall Mission and Vision of Mary Free Bed by providing the highest quality and bestpractice service to its customers.
The Therapist III may be employed in any one of the rehab settings is an active member of the interdisciplinary team is responsive to physician referrals determines the skilled and medically necessary needs of the patient and provides discipline specific interventions to improve the safety and functional independence of its clients through the rehab process.
Feedback from the Therapist III is critical to determine and recommend the patients progression through the continuum of care.
The Therapist III is responsible for establishing and maintaining professional competence identifying educational needs and seeking out learning opportunities from more advanced clinicians and specific continuing education.
The Therapist III is mindful of the fiduciary responsibilities and delivers rehabilitation services in a timely and efficient manner adhering to licensure documentation and billing guidelines and begins to recognize need for program development and process improvement initiatives.
Clinical settings may include: Acute: Orthopedics Medical/Surgical Medical/Pulmonary Neurology Cardiac ICU Step Down Trauma NICU (OT) CST Inpatient Rehab Orthopedics Neurology Trauma Outpatient Orthopedics Neurology Pediatrics Womens Health Drivability Vestibular Lymphedema Aquatics Vision Wound Care.
In addition the employee maintains a working knowledge and is supportive of departmental hospital and organizational initiatives and updates and stays current with communication such as emails in a professional and timely manner.
Written records contain thorough and accurate accounts of events observations facts and conclusions consistent with professional standards regulatory requirements and organizational procedures. Forms are fullycompleted legible accurate have no unapproved abbreviations and do have the proper signatures. Documents get to appropriate parties in a timely manner without compromising confidentiality or patient privacy procedures.
Makes it a practice to take charge of selfdevelopment by soliciting feedback setting priorities and then acquiring or strengthening skills and knowledge through coursework or other methods.

Clinician performs evaluation interprets results defines measurable outcomes and implements individualized plan of care using evidencebased treatment for identified impairments functional limitations and disabilities and adjusts plan based on patient response or status; establishes appropriate discharge plan based on individual needs of the patient and family
Able to manage individual schedule per departmental expectations and recognize and seek assistance for needed adjustments in periods of high or low census

Essential Job Qualifications
Post Graduate Certificate Bachelors or Masters degree in Speech Therapy
Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) License
BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) American Heart Healthcare Provider (HCP) AHA Approved
Basic computer and keyboarding skills or participation in computer training within the first year of employment
For advancement: Overall minimum score of Exceeds Expectations and at least Fully Meets Expectations in all individually scored areas on most recent performance appraisal; exhibits consistent proficiency for advanced level setting defined competency in the provision of discipline specific interventions.
