Job Description

Position Title: Volunteer Center Coordinator
Supported by: Volunteer Center Manager
FLSA Status: NonExempt FullTime

We work with individuals organizations food manufacturers and distributors grocery stores the USDA and Feeding America to procure food and purchase food to supplement donations. In Short:
The Volunteer Center Coordinator supports the mission and strategic plan of Food Bank for the Heartland by ensuring the Volunteer Center operates smoothly and efficiently. This role works closely with the Volunteer Center Manager to identify daily and weekly assembly needs oversee daytoday operations and create a positive and engaging experience for volunteers. Responsibilities include onboarding and training Volunteer Center Specialists monitoring and maintaining accurate inventory and optimizing team member strengths to support success. The coordinator also serves as the primary contact for the USDA inspector ensuring proper scheduling and compliance for repack activities.

Your Mission:
  • Acting as a primary representative of Food Bank for the Heartland interacting with all volunteers inside the building to ensure a positive experience and promote return visits
  • Oversee Volunteer Center activities to ensure the highest level of quality and food safety in all projects and safeguard against unsafe contamination and distribution
  • Work with USDA Food inspector to schedule oversight of repack and labeling activities to ensure adherence to food safety guidelines
  • Provide oversite of pilots to test feasibility of processing a variety of food including protein and dairy products
  • Work with the Volunteer Center Manager to develop and revise Volunteer Center processes to expand FBFHs capacity to provide a variety of food items in a safe and efficient manner while meeting client needs
  • Ensure all Volunteer Center equipment maintenance is scheduled and completed by the Facilities team
  • Planning of daytoday schedule of Volunteer Center including ensuring food and supply availability
  • Manage inventory levels and ensure FIFO standards are upheld for scheduled production
  • Complete weekly inventory checks to ensure inventory accuracy
  • Assist in informing volunteers of food safety guidelines and ensuring they are understood
  • Coordinate repackaging of all bulk products in a timely and accurate manner following all food safety and handling regulations
  • Utilize NetSuite to properly check in transform and move products within the inventory management system
  • Maintain cleanliness of Volunteer Center and assigned areas in warehouse including crushing cardboard sweeping mopping dusting cart cleaning and barrel and bin cleaning
  • Track volunteer production data on all activities to understand and project completion time
  • Work with Sourcing team and Volunteer Center Manager to plan volunteer activities including potential creative accommodations of largescale volunteer events
  • Abide by all food and warehouse safety rules and regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Computer and technology skills around Microsoft Office and general technology.

  • Forklift and other equipment trained or trainable

Your Story:
Minimum of one 1 year of proven experience in program coordination required.
Lived experience with the impacts of systemic racism or marginalization is a plus.
