Job Title: Custodial Supervisor

Department: Custodial

Reports To: Safety & Quality Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Compensation: Anticipated Starting Salary $45810 per year plus a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical dental vision life and LTD insurance FSA HRA 403(b) retirement plan paid holidays personal business sick leave and vacation.

Summary

Supervises a custodial department responsible for maintaining Museum buildings and grounds in a clean and orderly state for optimum operations. Includes scheduling staff coordinating event setup and take down and maintaining inventory levels of required products providing staff training maintaining current knowledge of field improvements and providing regular reports on performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Supervise and monitor staff to ensure compliance with best practices and OSHA regulations.
  • Develop and maintain cleanliness standards across all areas.
  • Conduct inspections to uphold Museum standards.
  • Prepare and submit reports and memoranda on custodial policies and procedures.
  • Research and recommend supply sources to optimize cost safety and efficiency.
  • Manage custodial inventory and procurement.
  • Identify and suggest suppliers or materials to improve value and effectiveness.
  • Maintain required certifications for equipment and professional standards.
  • Organize and conduct staff training to ensure proficiency in custodial methodologies.
  • Coordinate facility setup and takedown requests.
  • Regularly review and refine procedures and processes.
  • Develop and oversee work schedules and shift assignments.
  • Monitors the custodial budget. Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises employees in the Custodial Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing hiring and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience

High school diploma plus a minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training and a minimum of 3 years supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of OSHA standards.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals; Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals; Ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of or the ability to learn internet software inventory software payroll software and Word processing software.

Certificates Licenses Registrations

Must have or be able to obtain an Arizona Drivers License.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with staff and other departments.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Able to work flexible work schedule and adjust as required.
