Job Description
Performs medical laboratory testing classified as moderate or waived complexity in a CLIAcertified laboratory. Individual may be assessed and deemed competent to perform specificallyidentified highly complex procedures. This position is responsible for the accuracy timely reporting and integrity of laboratory results.
- Has working knowledge of and performs waived and moderate complex testing in accordance with laboratorys policy procedures and regulatory standards.
- Successful performance in laboratorys external proficiency program.
- Organizes and prioritizestechnical tasks with efficiency and minimal waste.
- Performs preventive maintenance of equipment and instrumentation within procedural guidelines and under the direction of a MLS or MLT.
- Reports waived and moderate complexity laboratory results in the Hospital LIS/EMR as ordered by providers and under the direction and review of MLS or MLT.
- Reviews and approves quality control results to affirm validity of patient results.
- Maintains instrumentation and confirms acceptable performance.
- Recognizes technical and/or instrumental issues that interfere with accurate testing and appropriately consults with a MLS or MLT for direction.
