Position Summary
The Office of the Provost at WinstonSalem State University seeks a collaborative and energetic partner to serve as a Student Services SpecialistResilience Coach a unit in University College. The Student Services SpecialistResilience Coach is a 12month position that reports to the Director of the Academic Scholars Prepared for Impact Retention and Engagement ASPIRE and is responsible for supporting the academic and personal success of student populations. University administrators seek a creative passionate adaptable and responsible professional committed to promoting a positive and successful learning environment for students to increase student retention success and completion. The Student Services SpecialistResilience Coach will empower students to identify and achieve their educational personal and professional goals through guided coaching sessions and by connecting them with resources within and beyond the Student Success Center at Hill Hall. The Student SpecialistResilience Coach will also identify students who may be at risk of failing and/or withdrawing and will proactively work with them and manage the coordination of the support offered them. Foster persistence retention and completion by understanding the culture of an assigned caseload of students. Using a growth mindset philosophy encourage students to realistically assess and reflect on their own strengths and weaknesses Provide proactive case management services through ongoing inperson and virtual contact. Develop and assess students academic success plans to include interventions necessary for success. Build rapport and trust with students and serve as an information center for students directing students to other relevant offices as necessary. Monitor the academic and personal progress of assigned student caseload including but not limited to ensuring ontime class registration monitoring academic progress towards degree providing academic and student support resources and programming coordination and referral of departmental and campus resources and communication with relevant departments. Utilize university software to monitor student progress toward goal completion and communicate with students and necessary personnel to engage in a support network for success Regularly work with supervisor to provide reports and identify students at risk of not meeting performance Provide activity reports to appropriate personnel using data to emphasize successes as well as concerning trends and/or challenges Participate in collegewide and service area activities and events that promote student success. Participate in professional development activities and maintain knowledge of current trends related to student interventions and success. Other Duties as Assigned
Preferred Years Experience Skills Training Education
Bachelors degree in education psychology counseling or a related field Experience with EAB Navigate CANVAS (Learning Management System) Nuventive (assessment) and BANNER platforms
