DescriptionIn this position
The primary focus of the Engineering Test Engineering role will be conducting electrical and mechanical hardware validation testing on Fords Next Generation Electronic Control Units (ECU). This role involves working in Fords ISO Laboratory environment supporting various climactic and mechanical stress loading conditions using specialized equipment and chambers. The successful candidate will be working on Fords Environmental Test team to ensure modules are delivered free of defects with the highest production quality while achieving best inclass test coverage.
ResponsibilitiesWhat youll do
- Conduct environmental HW validation test suites on Fords newest and legacy ECUs.
- Conduct Fords internal Thermal Validation test suites using automated SW test tools.
- Issue tracking investigation and resolution of test failures or deficiencies on new and existing module designs working closely with design teams for performance expectations.
- Operation of temperature humidity dust water ingress and audio test chambers and setups.
- Operation of other specialized equipment such vibration shock and force deflection test systems.
- Perform RF Calibrations for Modem and Antenna Performance Validation Setups
- Utilize Ford approved tools and methos regarding failure reporting (JIRA/WIKI/8D).
- Detailed test result documentation creation as per Ford / ISO17025 defined methods.
- Perform test results analysis to assess statistical ECU performance and reliability.
- Work with Test Development Team regarding complex test validation issues.
- Interface closely with Mechanical and Electrical Product Design teams regarding any ECU performance issue documentation and discovery processes.
- Find opportunities for lab improvements and drive to improve test quality by reducing test complexity and increase test coverage where possible.
- Support cable stock management including fabrication assembly and distribution
- Design and Development of Testing Harnesses: Design build and maintain custom testing harnesses for inhouse modules and devices. This includes handson work such as cutting stripping soldering and crimping wires performed in collaboration with the lab team.
- Materials Management and Procurement: Manage inventory of automotive connectors terminals tools and other necessary materials. This involves ordering materials from local national and international suppliers as well as managing and delivering orders.
- Internal Systems Management: Maintain and update internal Ford websites related to the distribution and demand forecasting of custom harnesses.
QualificationsYoull have
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Electrical Technology Engineering Mechanical Technology Engineering or equivalent.
- 1 year Experience Operating Environmental Test Equipment such as Temperature and Humidity Chambers Vibration (Shaker) or Mechanical Shock Test Systems
- 1 year Experience working with test equipment such as oscilloscopes multimeters spectrum analyzers power supplies or precision power meters.

- Low Voltage Cable Assembly and TDR Measurement (Automotive Ethernet DC Power CAN RF)
- Basic DSP knowledge for programming embedded test sample HW.
- Experience in functional test systems for Audio Power Conducted RF and Radiated RF testing of 2G/3G/4G/5G/WiFi/BT/GPS CAN/LIN Displays and Cameras
- Experience with Jira and Confluence Atlassian Tools.
- Experience with automotive electronic modules and systems.
- Knowledge of industry standards. (e.g. AECQ USCAR ISO/IEC)
- Laboratory Management and Certification experience. (ISO/IEC17025 A2LA)
- Experience with Liquid Chiller Systems and Advanced Temperature Shock Chambers.
- Experience with electrical cable assembly fabrication test and termination processes
- Electronic PCB Assembly Inspection Destructive and Chemical Analysis Processes. (IPC)
- NI Software Automation Development experience. (LabView and TestStand)
- Experience with D/FMEA processes. 5D/8D RCCA 5Why)
- Experience with Probabilistic Reliability and Bogey Testing.
- Failure Probability (Weibull) and Accelerated LifeCycle testing.
- Statistical Data analysis (histogram / CPK) automation tools.
- Experience with RF communications test and design. (TDR /Cellular/GPS/WiFi/BT)
- Detailed understanding of various technologies such as CAN Automotive Ethernet (BroadR) Audio (i2S) Displays (LVDS) and Cameras.
- Network Expert with TCP/IP connectivity protocol standards knowledge base.
- Experience with embedded chip programming and software download into electronic modules.
- Knowledge of Surface Mount Selective Solder Underfill ConformalCoat processes.
- Experience working with dynamic RF frontend designs and Qualcomm tool sets.
