Job Description

About the Role
Were excited to launch a brandnew role: Development Officer Kent. This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of an inspiring new project supporting families affected by imprisonment. This is your chance to play a key role in transforming how families are supported at court and through the transition of a loved one going into prison.

Youll be working directly with families courts schools prisons and other local services to create a support system that truly puts families first. This role offers a blend of frontline service delivery community engagement and project development and no two days will be the same.

What Youll Be Doing:

  • Supporting families in and around Maidstone & Canterbury Courts and ensuring smooth transitions into HMP Elmley and HMP Rochester.
  • Recruiting and managing local volunteers including those with lived experience to provide compassionate practical courtbased support.
  • Working closely with prison Family Services teams to ensure continuity of care.
  • Coordinating events forums and training sessions including engaging local schools on how imprisonment impacts childrens education.
  • Facilitating Enhanced Family Forums to ensure families voices are heard and embedded in service design.
  • Developing strong partnerships with schools social services probation and courts to create lasting change for families.
  • Leading on volunteer development resource creation and monitoring impact to help shape and grow this innovative project.

About You:

Were looking for a true allrounder who will come into this role and shine. You may or may not have experience of working in the criminal justice system but what you will have is a real commitment to the work were trying to do to improve outcomes for prisoners and their families. You should be highly organised with strong admin and IT skills and have a good understanding of volunteering. You will also have knowledge of safeguarding health and safety and data security and understand the importance of professional boundaries in an environment like this.
