Job Description

Minimum bachelors degree with valid Tennessee teaching license and appropriate endorsement required. Appropriate endorsements include2 407 and 440. See the job description below for more information.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Bachelors degree.
  2. Valid Tennessee teaching certificate at appropriate grade level.
  3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOAL

To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature able and responsible men and women.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the location and at the times designated.
  2. Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs interests and abilities of the students to the extent possible.
  3. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  4. Prepares for classes daily and will provide written evidence upon request of principal.
  5. Develops and encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  6. Designs develops and coordinates field trips to meet the districts goals and objectives.
  7. Strives to implement through instruction the districts philosophy of education.
  8. Monitors on an ongoing basis the progress of students and provides reports as needed.
  9. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
  10. Maintains complete accurate and correct records as required by law.
  11. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct; develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure; and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  12. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence by attending professional conferences and workshops.
  13. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  14. Performs such other duties as may reasonably be prescribed by the principal or assistant principal.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 25 lbs. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows:

  2. Intelligence: The ability to understand instructions and underlying principles. Ability to reason and make judgments.
  3. Verbal: Ability to understand meanings of words and the ideas associated with them.
  4. Numerical: Ability to perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately.
  5. Manual Dexterity: Ability to move the hands easily and manipulate small objects with the fingers.
  6. Form Perception: To make visual comparisons and discriminations and see slight differences in shapes and shadings of figures.
  7. Color Discrimination: Ability to perceive or recognize similarities or differences in colors or shades or other values of the same color.
