Who Were Looking For
ToyotasCloud and Developer Experience (DevEx) Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivatedStaff Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to leverage your experience developing largescale highly complex distributed applications on public cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) to build products made available through the Chofer platform.
Reporting to the Sr. Manager the person in this role will support the Cloud and Developer Experience (DevEx) departments objective to reduce complexity and improve the development velocity and time to market of our software engineering teams that utilize Cloud computing.
What Youll Be Doing
Lead software architecture and designs that provide reusable robust and welldocumented products.
Understand customer needs and what technical requirements are needed to achieve their objectives.
Write and test product or system development code.
Review code written by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g. style guidelines checking code in accuracy testability efficiency and observability).
Collaborate with Product Management and other stakeholders (Application Product teams DevEx Tools Cloud Security Site Reliability Engineering etc. to gather requirements assess needs and design efficient solutions that align with organizational and enterprise objectives
Champion engineering and operational excellence establishing metrics and process for regular assessment and improvement. Maintain and advocate for these standards through code/PR reviews.
Troubleshoot and resolve product or system issues. Track through complete RCA process leading blameaware incident reviews.
Help guide engineers to develop new products and oversee the successful of projects throughout the year while ensuring that the team meets technical standards.
Contributing to the development of longterm technical strategies and roadmaps and influencing the technical direction of our platform products
Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
Work with your team to clarify technical requirements assess development estimates and apply a broad range of design approaches
What You Bring
Excellent communication skills with ability to influence both technical and business stakeholders
Independently lead complex technical initiatives within your team
Experience building trusted partnerships across diverse teams
At least 7 years experience in providing technical direction and leadership for software engineering and development including at least 3 years experience developing deploying and scaling cloudnative software components on cloud providers such as AWS or Google Cloud.
Experience architecting and developing solutions to ambiguous problems
Proven aptitude in leading teams in iterative and incremental software delivery to create successful products
Youve worked with either Python Java Spring Boot Typescript Docker/Kubernetes Postgres or any of the cloud native database technologies.
Knowledge of observability and monitoring best practices
Experience with at least one popular form of InfrastructureasCode (Terraform CloudFormation ARM or an equivalent)
Experience converting large monolithic systems into microservice APIs (GraphQL/REST) that adhere to the 12factor application methodology
Demonstrated experience in mentoring conflict resolution as well as communication skills not only within your team but within your product group and/or the whole engineering organization.
Youve written distributed highvolume services and have knowledge about using CI/CD tools to deploy and maintain them in production
You have an implicit drive to improve. You communicate clearly and empathically especially in writing and documentation.

Published blog posts and/or tech talks about your work.
Polyglot experience delivering software products utilizing a variety of technology stacks

Experience utilizing AI tools to enhance productivity and efficiency or in leveraging AIdriven solutions to streamline workflows and optimize processes will be highly valued.
