Job Description

FullTime and Permanent; Exempt; 7.33 Hours/Day; 220 Days/Year; 11 Months/Year

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must possess and maintain the certification requirements as established by the Virginia Department of Education; this is a regular education position.
  • Possess five or more years of teaching experience with a record of successfully impacting student achievement and working successfully with students who have the greatest needs.
  • Masters degree required
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues including the ability to create and nurture a professional community of adult learners.
  • Demonstrate strong facilitation communication (both oral and written) and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated teacher leadership including the ability and skill to use a proven coaching model and giving and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Demonstrate skills in using data to plan instruct and assess.
  • Demonstrate skills in coaching strategies that improve teaching
  • Demonstrate skills in using student work and performance data to make informed instructional decisions.
  • Demonstrate willingness and ability to model effective instructional practices.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional growth.
  • Demonstrate problem solving and organizational skills required to effectively facilitate coaching strategies and staff development initiatives.
  • Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students families and staff.

Nature of Position

  • Support the instructional development of teachers as it relates to Tier I instruction student engagement classroom management data review and use and lesson plans.
  • Ensure understanding and implementation of the schools Instructional Focus.
  • Facilitate walkthroughs to determine the internal capacity of the school and identify priority areas to address.
  • Informally observe (nonevaluative) lessons and follow a proven coaching model in order to provide feedback monitor progress and provide needed professional development.
  • Model use of cooperative learning structures to ensure positive interdependence individual accountability equal participation and simultaneous interaction.
  • Maintain required documentation related to coaching professional development etc.
  • This position requires a panel interview.
  • This is a grant funded position and is dependent on available funds.
