Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)
Reports to : SLP Supervisor
Department: Clinical
Compensation: $82000$111500

Essential Functions:
The licensed speech and language pathologist will provide expertise in speech and language and related services serving as an integral part of our clinical will conduct assessments consult and counsel as well as design and develop treatment plans and interventions that meet the individualized needs of students. They will maintain key relationships and collaborate as needed and required with students their families and all levels of staff at the Shrub Oak International School to ensure that the individualized needs of each student are met. Having access to confidential information discretion and independent judgment is required.
Provides individual and group speech and language services within a transdisciplinary model that are individualized in nature and meet the needs of each student
Utilizes a variety of treatment approaches that are safe creative and individualized to a particular students needs
Continually monitor students progress and adjust treatments accordingly based on clinical observations and data collection
Collaborates with other clinicians and members of the Education and Residential team to ensure carryover and generalization of communication skills across all aspects of a students day
Maintains appropriate records and reports as required
Participates in professional development and Shrub Oak activities to advance field knowledge and to remain at the forefront of clinical advancements in the areas of intervention evaluation life skills and related areas
Actively assists with other programs events and services administered through Shrub Oak and may be involved in a wider range of responsibilities

Requirements:
Experience & Education:
New York State SLP license in good professional standing required
TSSLD certification required
Masters degree in SpeechLanguage Pathologyrequired; doctorate degree preferred
Minimum of three 3 years of relevant experience required; experience working with students with developmental disabilities or on the autistic spectrum in a school setting is strongly preferred
Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication systems (AAC) required
Skills & Abilities:
Exceptional communication (oral and written) and active listening skills to appropriately understand and meet student needs. Must also be able to effectively communicate and interact with faculty staff families and all external constituencies.
Excellent analytical capabilities with the ability to understand problemsolve and make sound determinations/decisions in complex situations.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders while being sensitive and responsive to diverse needs with a high degree of cultural competency and collegiality.
Ability to interact effectively and proactively with a wide variety of individuals valuing diversity and positively portraying our programs personnel and philosophies.
Ability to adapt and remain flexible in evolving situations.
Demonstrated sense of urgency and the ability to make sound appropriate decisions under pressure in dynamic environments.
Ability to multitask and handle multiple situations with discretion and sensitivity while exercising sound judgment.
Ability to work effectively as part of a transdisciplinary team and collaborate crossfunctionally with other disciplines and areas of Shrub Oak.
Computer proficiency with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other software and the ability to learn Azimuth SIS (our database management software).
Ability to think analytically and critically assessing a variety of information to make complex judgments on student situations outcomes and Shrub Oak policies and protocols.
Ability to handle highly challenging behaviors including those aggressive in nature
Ability to get TCIS trained and complete/maintain all required trainings

Physical Requirements/Demands:
A workday regularly includes multiple or conflicting demands deadlines and time pressures; work regularly requires sustained concentration. Standing for sustained periods of time bending stretching walking up and down stairs (building has 6 floors) around a hilly campus as needed may also require walking between floors or between buildings at a moments notice. May need to lift/moveboxes up to 25 pounds and move or rearrange furniture.
Work Environment:
We are a boarding school located on a 127acre campus. The work environment will include both indoor and outdoor spaces mostly inside the classroom or educational environment. May include work within the residential setting. The building has 6 floors accessible by staircases and elevators.
