The Senior Staff Systems Engineer is responsible for the design and development optimization and launch of Cepheids medical diagnostic products. This handson role will include responsibilities across the entire product lifecycle including earlystage scoping design inputs and outputs and postmarket optimization. You will work closely with Bio R&D Systems R&D (including Mechanical Optical Reliability Electrical Firmware Software) and other interdisciplinary groups to define design integrate and characterize new systems and subsystem components. The Senior Staff Systems Engineer is responsible for the planning analysis and documentation of critical Systems R&D activities.
This position is part of the Systems Architecture team within the Systems R&D department and will be located onsite in Sunnyvale CA. In this role you will have the opportunity to:
- Define design requirements at the system and subsystem level mapping of system form/functions and interfaces/interactions system integration and testing.
- Lead systems projects by defining scope deliverables and schedule and ensuring the multidisciplinary project teams are meeting their goals.
- Solve complex problems related to developing new technologies and products as well as troubleshooting issues that may arise with current products.
- Analyze complex data via statistical methods and provides written and oral reports/updates to senior and executive management.
- Collaborate crossfunctionally with Bio R&D other Systems R&D functions Consumables R&D Product Management Supply Chain and other functions to achieve project goals.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline with experience as a handson engineer R&D scientist or similar
- Bachelors degree in field with 10 years of related work experience OR Masters degree in field with 8 years of related work experience OR Doctoral degree in field with 6 years of related work experience
- Biology and engineering laboratory experience
- Experience with design input/output system integration test planning and written and oral communication of R&D activities
- Detailoriented proactive selfstarter and typically initiates work with minimal guidance
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Experience in medical device diagnostics or biotechnology industry
- Earlystage prototyping skills
- Familiarity with SolidWorks or other CAD software
- Knowledge of Python Matlab or other scripting language
- Experience performing statistical analysis in Minitab Matlab or other software

The salary range for this role is 143400..00 USD Annual. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
