Sr Optical Engineer

A Day in Your Life at MKS:

As a Senior Optical Engineer at SpectraPhysicsLasers Business UnitofMKS Instruments you will partner with Multidisciplinary Internal Teams to contribute to thedevelopment ofplatform extensions and improvement ofoptical designsof freespace and fiberbased laser systems. In this role you will report to the Senior Engineering Manager R&D.

You Will Make an Impact By:

• Design and engineer laser modules and systems for performance cost and reliability to solve our customers most pressing challenges.

• Define experimentation and modeling strategies build test and troubleshoot laser systemscreate reports and design documentationand transfer designs to production.

• Interact with Electrical Mechanical Software and Manufacturing Engineers to drive design activities performance and reliability evaluation and systematic problemsolving.

Travel Requirements: Up to 10 of Travel may be required.

Skills You Bring:

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree

• 5 years of industry experience

• Experiencedesigningandbuilding optical systemsandfreespace beam alignmentoflaseroscillatorsoramplifiers

• Abilityto set up and perform optical measurements evaluate the resultsand clearly communicate the conclusions

Preferred Skills: (Optional)

• Industrial optical product development

• Troubleshooting and failure analysis of optical modules and systems

• Hand on experience with ultrafast lasers and techniques

• Gaussian beam propagation and raytracing software

• Harmonic generation and nonlinear crystals

• Fiber lasers and components

Compensation and Benefits:
Salary Pay Range: $120000 to 170000 per year. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position based on a wide range of factors including qualifications experience and training operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law.At MKS it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in an amount to be determined by MKS or as applicable.
