Job Description
Quality Staffing Inc. also doing business as Goddard Mason Executive Search a leading fullservice employment agency matching qualified talent with some of the areas top companies is looking for an experienced LPN School Nurseto work through our agency as a contract employee with the Tennessee Rutherford County School Board (TN RCSB) located in Murfreesboro TN. This is an onsite position working from7:15 am to 3:45 pm Monday through Friday. The pay rate for this positionis $36.00 per hour.
LPN School Nurse Job Overview:
The purpose of LPNs in the school setting is to carry out nursing procedures and related activities as delegated by other health professionals which enhance the health and wellbeing of school age children and adolescents. Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) may practice in a school setting under the supervision of a licensed Professional Registered Nurse (RN). Supervision is defined by the Tennessee Board of Nursing as overseeing or inspecting with authority. The LPN must function within the provisions of the Nurse Practice Act the standards of practice established for LPNs and other state and local statutes and regulations applicable to school nursing practice. They must also adhere to the Rutherford County Board of Education policies and administrative guidelines. Although this is a shortterm contract as this school year is coming to an end 5/30/25 RCS intends to renew the contract for willing and qualified candidates for theschool year beginning on 8/1/25 and going through 5/30/26.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities for the LPN position will include:
- Works as a team member with RN assigned to the school.
- Prepares and administers medications and treatments to students according to district protocols and under the supervision of the RN using knowledge of purpose and adverse effects of nursing care provided.
- MUST be proficient with tracheostomy care in the school setting under the supervision of the RN.
- Intervenes prudently and in a timely manner on students behalf observing standards of care based on current medical and nursing knowledge.
- Completes all documentation for observation planning and evaluation of care provided to students.
- Maintains open lines of communication with the RN and other appropriate school personnel while ensuring confidentiality.
- Acts with first aid knowledge in emergencies.
Work Ethics Required for LPN School Nurse position:
- Confidentiality maintain confidentiality of all students and faculty members.
- Competence demonstrate effectiveness in applying nursing skills.
- Reliability stay on task on assigned duties.
- Responsibility accept directions well carries out directions from RN and Nursing Supervisor.
- Accountability must maintain routine daily schedule as filed with the Nursing Supervisor.
- Diplomacy tactful in dealing with others.
- Interaction with Others maintain positive interactions with students parents and other school employees.
- Loyalty loyal to the Rutherford County School system and coworkers.
- Safety use Universal Precautions and Aseptic/Sterile technique appropriately.
- Open Mindedness willing to accept suggestions.
- Professionalism practice good nursing ethics maintains confidentiality maintains current CPR certification.
- Dress Code dressed and groomed appropriately in scrubs or lab coat over business casual street clothes and no low cut or revealing blouses; no sweatpants; no jeans unless casual day at assigned school(s); no perfumes or colognes; no smoking.
- Cooperation work well with others.
- Communication consult with other professionals appropriately notifies RN of any concerns with students.
- Punctuality report to school on time.
Required Education Qualifications and Skills for LPN position:
- Hold an active Tennessee LPN license in good standing.
- Is a licensed graduate of a Practical Nurse program with a minimum of two years of recent nursing experience preferably in school nursing pediatric nursing community health nursing home health and/or emergency department.
- Have access to a serviceable automobile to perform required travel between schools (reimbursed for mileage from first school to all other school related travel throughout the day).
- Have good verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in computer charting is advantageous.
- Must be physically able to fulfill all performance requirements for grades preK to 12 (i.e. lifting stooping bending etc..
- MUST BE LOCAL to the Rutherford County TN area.
- Must have a solid & stable work history.
