Job Description

Overview:

The Mayors Office Partnerships Team is responsible for managing and advancing relationships between the City and its robust set of anchor institutions (philanthropy privatesector cultural institutions hospitals and universities). The team works with external and internal stakeholders to align strategic efforts and generate resources to support publicprivate partnerships across the City.

The Partnerships team is seeking a driven and experienced Manager to support the team in implementing an expanded vision for advancing citywide partnerships. Under the direction of the Senior Advisor for Partnerships the Manager will support both the Senior Advisor and Deputy Director for Partnerships in designing implementing and tracking the Mayors signature projects and initiatives as well as build out and manage essential operations of the Office. The Manager will pursue this work by collaborating with the Mayors Office colleagues and departments across the City of Boston. The Manager will also support the team in its relationship development and management of Bostons anchor institutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a principal support staff member for the Mayors Office Partnerships Team helping the office manage relationships with a dedicated set of institutions in key sectors in collaboration with the Senior Advisor Deputy Director Mayors Office colleagues Cabinet leaders and department heads.
  • Help build the internal capacity and systems to drive forward and sustain citywide partnership development.
  • Convene a Citywide Partnerships Community of Practice to align efforts across the City toward a shared partnership vision and approach.
  • Build and maintain processes documentation dashboards and systems to ensure effective constituent relationship management including institutional partner research identification and management.
  • Coordinate with Finance and Law on ethics gift receipts grantmaking partnership design and structure.
  • Build and maintain internal systems to coordinate tasks and followup including documenting prospect research cultivation history and reporting.
  • Coordinate resource development objectives for annual Mayoral signature events and summits as well as special partnerships to support seasonal resident needs.
  • Generate spreadsheets presentations memoranda and other documents and deliverables as needed to advance the goals of the Partnerships Team.
  • Partner with internal teams to advance partnership design communications and resource development for Mayoral initiatives focused on youth and schools housing climate and parks civic and cultural life health and economic opportunity. Build out systems to measure communicate and celebrate partnership wins.
  • Coordinate the launch of a public presence/website to communicate partnership outcomes and engage new partners.
  • Support the development and implementation of a systematic approach to recognizing and engaging partners through convenings events and communications strategies.
  • Support the development and implementation of data tracking measurement and reporting for Partnership team goals.
  • Provide additional capacity to the Mayors Office and the Partnerships Team for emergent issues and in moments of community crisis. This may include research fieldwork and operation efforts.

Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

  • At least three 3 years of work experience.
  • A bachelors degree is required; a graduate degree in planning policy business administration or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working in fundraising partnership development or institutional advancement is strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing projects in a complex stakeholder environment with tight deadlines.
  • Strong understanding and interest in philanthropy government policymaking and/or the nonprofit sector.
  • Strong commitment to public service.
  • Experience working closely and collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders including municipal employees corporate and philanthropic leaders nonprofit leaders and others and to promote and maintain a collaborative team approach.
  • Must be proficient with Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong communication presentation and relationship management skills with a proven ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion.
  • Ideal candidates should be selfstarters and comfortable with charting their own course in complex and seemingly hierarchical organizations.
  • Experience and ability to organize projectbased work track and support the completion of multiple project deliverables write grant proposals write thoughtful correspondence with internal and external stakeholders and generate pitch decks and dynamic spreadsheets.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.
  • Knowledge of Bostons neighborhoods communities cultures and history is preferred.
  • Fluency or competency in Spanish Haitian Creole Cape Verdean Creole Mandarin or Cantonese would be strongly considered.
