Job Description

GAI Consultants is seeking an Intern with experience in Environmental Compliance to work out of our Cranberry office within our Energy Business Unit. The successful candidate will serve as a member of the Environmental Compliance Staff under a licensed Professional Engineer to assist with projects assisting clients with their compliance needs. The successful candidate should enjoy working in a challenging fastpaced and teamoriented environment. This position will afford an excellent opportunity for the individual to expand their experience and knowledge base in federal and state environmental regulations and methodologies in Pennsylvania Ohio West Virginia and the surrounding region.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation and review of client specific Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans and state specific PPC Plans.
  • Review and assist in the completion of state and federal environmental air quality permits including Minor Modifications and Major Source Title V
  • Review E&S control and stormwater plans associated with both site and linear construction Projects.
  • Perform field monitoring with supervision on various types of construction projects not limited to: erosion and sediment (E&S) compliance. Phase I ESAs etc.
  • Prepare periodic reports and applications (field monitoring reporting compliance permitting etc. as assigned. Reports may be submitted via paper report or electronically.
  • When required be able to perform basic calculations and to review specifications permits and permit conditions.
  • Utilize electronic location devices such as a GPS or a GPS enabled device to collect data tied to a Project location.
  • Adhere to the Health and Safety requirements of GAI Consultants and GAIs clients.
  • Maintain QA/QC standards and adhere to the Quality Management System procedures of GAI Consultants and the quality procedures of GAIs clients.
  • Must be flexible; some travel will be expected as part of this position although overnight stays out of town are not required.
