Grade 34 Classroom Teacher Job DescriptionAbout Hilltown Hilltown Cooperative Charter Public School is a K8 public charter school founded in 1995. Our mission is to engage students in experiential handson learning that integrates the arts and interdisciplinary studies fosters critical thinking skills and nurtures a lifelong joy of learning. We strive to sustain a cooperative closeknit community of students staff families and local partners who guide and support the educational program. At the heart of our work is a commitment to cultivating childrens individual voices and a shared respect for one another our community and the world around mission informs every aspect of our teaching and learning. We are currently seeking a Grade 34 classroom teacher who shares this vision and is excited to contribute to a vibrant childcentered and collaborative school Overview The Grade 34 teacher at Hilltown serves as the lead educator in a mixedage elementary classroom. Teachers at Hilltown design and implement integrated experiential curriculum that reflects our mission and supports the academic social and emotional development of young are looking for an educator who brings warmth creativity flexibility and a deep understanding of how children in grades 3 and 4 grow and learn. A successful candidate will value arts integration community building and handson learning and will be committed to fostering a classroom where all children feel seen supported and Qualifications:Bachelors degreePassing scores on relevant MTELs (or ability to meet this requirement early in tenure)Preferred Qualifications:4 years prior teaching experienceTeacher license in relevant fieldMasters degreePrimary Responsibilities:Serve as primary classroom teacher in a multigrade classroomFacilitate the creation of a respectful safe and nurturing classroom environmentActively work as part of a teaching team to develop and implement an integrated curriculum that is consistent with the Massachusetts Curriculum FrameworksCreate and maintain a physical space for learning that is warm organized and educationally engagingBuild strong relationships with students and families through regular communication and connectionImplement performancebased assessments of students learning and document student workCollaborate with colleagues and support staff to meet the needs of all learnersDevelop and maintain consistent and timely homeschool communication that supports partnership with students caregiversWork collaboratively with special education teachers to ensure implementation of all accommodations and modifications outlined in assigned students educational plansSupervise and support a Teaching Assistant including regular planning and feedbackAdditional Requirements:Participate fully in the schools collaborative professional development programAttend and engage in faculty meetings integrated curriculum planning meetings and student support team meetings Complete progress reports for each student three times per yearConduct conferences with each family once per yearConduct an evening classroom orientation session each fallParticipate in assigned lunch/recess supervisionEngage in weekly All School gatherings that celebrate community and student voiceDevelop and implement Mini Courses for mixed grade groups of students as scheduledGeneral Expectations:Meet routine responsibilities consistentlyManage time to accomplish multiple tasks and meet deadlinesMaintain strong attendance and punctualityWork independently with general guidanceMaintain cooperative relationships with students and adultsOperate standard office equipment including computer email and copierCommunicate effectively both orally and in writingSupport the schools goals philosophies and overall mission
