Job Description
Colby Community College is accepting applications for a fulltime Financial Aid Counselor. The Financial Aid Counselor performs a variety of responsibilities related to the administration of federal state and institutional aid to students and performs work involving receiving analyzing and validating financial aid. This position processes applications and forms verifies and processes information to determine eligibility and helps to maintain student information in the PowerFaids system. This position tracks the academic progress of students and actively contacts students regarding concerns about course load academic progress grades and eligibility for educational benefits. This will work closely with scholarships in order to apply anticipated aid to the students account and ensure students are not overawarded. The successful candidate will provide quality service to a variety of students parents faculty staff and the public be detailoriented and be technologically competent. This position reports to the Director of Financial Aid.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the ability to read interpret explain and apply provisions of federal and state rules and regulations and guidelines related to financial aid programs. The ability to meet schedules and deadlines is essential. Attention to detail computer data entry skills and excellent verbal and written skills. Understanding the importance of technology integrity innovative thinking and the ability to work as a team to increase enrollment in a rural setting is critical.

Required Qualifications
Associate degree.
Strong computer skills.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks in a fastpaced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors degree.
Experience in a financial aid department or educational setting.
Travel
Minimal travel is expected for this position.
Salary
$15.50 $17.50 per hour depending on credentials and experience.

Hours/Schedule
Fulltime 8 a.m.5 p.m. and occasional weekend activities required.
