Job Description

This position reports to the Facilities Manager with responsibility for the site electrical infrastructure from 12.7 kV site feed to substation transformers 4160VAC to 480VAC switchgears MCC distribution panels all the way down to DC control voltage levels for field devices that communicate to servers and automation system applications.  The facilities electrical engineer also manages facility equipment installations and coordinates predictive and preventive maintenance programs on electrical systems and facility equipment along with their site electrical responsibilities.  This position updates and troubleshoots the building automation system manages UPS systems including repairs and routine maintenance manages electrical contractor vendors and coordinates approves and directs their electrical work after reviewing oneline and panel electrical drawings for capacity and feasibility of proposed electrical installations site wide.   

This position ensures that all building electrical infrastructure is installed and maintained in accordance with NFPA NEC and OSHA guidelines and regulations.  Must be familiar with NFPA 70E arc flash analysis PPE requirements for arc flash labeling and updating oneline diagrams based on changes to arc flash category from recommendations that come from the arc flash analysis.   

This position is responsible for the application software and field hardware support for the site IP security cameras badge access door control system and building automation system.  This position works with the IT department to coordinate routine server operating system and application software upgrades.  Must be familiar with IP based networks and understand how to configure devices with an IP address subnet and gateway.  This position is also responsible for reviewing all low voltage LAN cabling requests and related installation.

The position has no direct reports but is heavily involved with managing contractors related to electrical service building automation system service IT related service as well as providing technical support and electrical best practice support to all departments at this site.

In additional to the site electrical infrastructure the position also prepares mechanical and electrical work scopes for manufacturing equipment installations in a manufacturing building assists with energy cost reduction initiatives capital project ROI calculations and works closely with energy/sustainability engineer and mechanical engineers in the facility department.   


Qualifications :

Indefinite U.S. work authorized individuals only. Future sponsorship for work authorization is unavailable. 

  • B. S. in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited fouryear college or university
  • 510 Years of electrical engineering experience with working knowledge of entire electrical infrastructure for a large industrial site from incoming high voltage from power company through transformers and switchgears down to the low voltage control circuits for field devices that communicate to servers and automation system applications     
  • Extensive knowledge of the NFPA NEC NFPA 70E and OSHA as they related to requirements for electrical systems and industrial manufacturing.
  • Computing and software skills including Microsoft Office AutoCAD Windows Server OS and building automation systems (preferably Distech)
