What youll do
This is an excellent opportunity to enhance your current skill base and join us as a Complex Care Assistant. You will have full training and clinical support to develop and improve skills in various complex areas such as tracheotomy ventilation seizure management and stoma care plus so much more.
Our Client.
My name is Nicola but I prefer Nic. I have been diagnosed with neuromyelitis optica. This is an autoimmune condition characterised by relapses (attacks) of the optic nerves (optic neuritis) and spinal cord (transverse myelitis). This means I now require a ventilator to breath; I am unable to move myself and so i need support with everything I need and like to do. I currently have 24 hour care from advantage to support me and pop in calls from an agency called supportive to help with hygiene moving and handling and food preparation.
My family are amazing and my partner Steve is my main carer and its with the help from family and carers I am able to have a decent quality of life.
Nic can make decisions for herself and would liked to be involved in all choices and conversations about her care. Nic has a speaking Valve and will need carers who can spend time to learn to communicate with her support and allow her to make decisions. Like many of us she likes her tea to be perfect milk no sugar and need a straw with it She also likes a can of Coke Zero with a straw and carers need to hold them in place so she can enjoy her favourite drinks.
Nics Interests and Hobbies
Nic really enjoys going out and loves a good browse around the shops Whilst her trips have to be limited as she can get infections very easily. Nic has friends who visit at home and Steve and carers support her during her social visits.
At home Nic loves watching Sunderland play football (her favourite team) watch horse racing she will have a cheeky bet sometimes) going through social media with help of carers. I also have an eye gaze; I can watch things and control it with my eyes.
Nic has 3 cats Arthur Martha and Shadow and 1 dog called Stan her pets mean alot and bring immense joy. Stan likes to sit on my knee and Martha likes to sit on the back of my chair.
Nic likes quiet time with family and watch my soaps and crime dramas but hate adverts so if you could fast forward them she does like chatting time to time so if the carers engage and really get to know her then it makes that differenced.
