JOB SUMMARY: Develops implements and maintains educational programs and materials for staff providers and patients of designated specialty area. Serves as an educational resource and provide services for the department medical center outside institutions and community as applicable.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree in health education nursing or related health care field with four years nursing experience in the specialty area required. Demonstrated training ability. Masters degree in nursing and experience beyond four years preferred.
LICENSURE CERTIFICATION and/or
REGISTRATION: Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the State of North Carolina. Other certifications may be required for areas of specialty.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Develops implements and maintains educational programs and materials for staff providers and 2. Identifies and utilizes allied health professionals to deliver innovative and high quality educational programs. 3. Identifies and recruits qualified individuals to attend educational programs; evaluates progress utilizing appropriate testing devices; develops and schedules programs that will facilitate state accreditation. 4. Maintains documentation of all educational activities according to appropriate accrediting bodies and governing guidelines. 5. Works to enhance relationships between the departments and various external constituents. Markets and advocates for departmental programs. 6. Responsible for developing and maintaining teaching aides to include films slides course manuals charts nursing supplies and equipment necessary to demonstrate methods of patient care. 7. Identifies and reviews nursing research opportunities. Keeps abreast of new developments in training techniques methods and programs and presents to management. 8. Provides input on performance evaluations for nursing personnel to Nurse Manager as requested. 9. Provides professional nursing care in accordance with education/experience established policies and procedures and state licensure requirements. 10. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
