PURPOSE:
The primary objective of this position is to comply with CIRO supervision Rules and Regulations as well as supporting the Management Team in achieving overall branch growth and profitability. The role is also responsible for guidance and support to the Advisory Teams as it relates to sales supervision as well as general service and branch operations.
WHAT YOULL BE DOING:
- Lead and drive a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships systems and knowledge.
- Manage and uphold the compliance and regulatory standards of the firm in the Branch to ensure minimal financial exposure to the firm.
- Ensure client complaints claims legal actions and regulatory reviews examinations and investigations are escalated to the Branch Manager and assist to ensure they are handled effectively and corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
- Manage compliance within the branch including all daily supervision activities as well as document signing and approvals trade exception overrides and approvals Account opening approvals cheque signing and payables approvals.
- Assist the Branch Manager in the continued implementation and adoption of our Total Wealth Strategy
- Partner with Branch Manager and Branch Administrator to guide and support staffing in the branch as it relates to Advisor Teams needs
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies for the branch that align with our Firms growth strategy and culture
- Act as a sounding board for experienced and developing advisors complimented by coaching and providing advice and perspective on all things relevant to the Advisors business and growth objectives
- Understand how the Banks risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in daytoday activities and decisions.
- Create an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabanks Values its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles while ensuring the adequacy adherence to and effectiveness of daytoday business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational compliance AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

DO YOU HAVE THE SKILLS
Performing Tier 1 Supervision of advisors for IIA and its subbranches in accordance with industry regulations and firm policies and procedures alongside the National Supervision Team on behalf of the Branch Managers.
- Responsible for the maintenance of the required Internal Control branch files.
- Provide training and coaching to staff as required for the firms implementations and processes.
- Prepare and manage the BAC agenda and its required action items.
- Ensure branch readiness for upcoming audits.
Perform initial assessment on all client complaints and discuss with the Management Team required actions.
- Work with advisory teams in the implementation of new rules and regulations.
- Familiarization and understanding of the Country Rules.
- Tracking and yearly review of PEPs.
- Undertake regulatory initiatives as required.
- Escalation point for the advisory teams for account and documentation issues.
- Approval for cancel and amend requests cheque requests and third party deposits.
- Liaising with the Compliance Department identifying patterns and ongoing concerns to be addressed through training initiatives.
- Building relationships with Advisory Teams to help them find solutions to their issues and concerns
- Communicating new policies and procedures to the branchs support staff and advisors to ensure all lines of business work together to help advisors grow
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 5 to 10 years experience in the financial services industry with some branch and sales management experience and accomplishments
- Strong understanding of and experience in general management concepts i.e. finance human resources marketing sales compliance operations
Proficient in MS Office (outlook word access excel).
Commitment to ongoing industry education and CE requirements to remain registered
Proficiency in written and oral Spanish is mandatory.
Education and Accreditations:
- Related university degree or experience
- Canadian Securities Course (CSC)
- Branch Managers Course Effective Management Seminar
- Conduct and Practices Handbook (CPH)
- Must be able to be licensed in a Supervisory capacity of Registered Representatives
