Job Description

The R&D Engineering Manager Sustaining manages and directs mechanical engineers working on programs to meet organizational needs and to capitalize on new products. This role coordinates activities of the mechanical engineering department to design develop manufacture and test mechanical components products and complex systems. You will coordinate department activities through team members to design new products modify existing designs improve production techniques and develop test procedures. You will analyze technology trends human resource needs and market demand to plan projects. You will confer with management production and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility cost effectiveness and customer demand for new and existing products. You will forecast operating costs of department and direct preparation of budget requests. You will direct personnel activities of department such as recruitment hiring performance evaluations and salary adjustments. You may direct field testing of products and systems performed by field staff. You are responsible for the coordination and completion of projects set deadlines assign responsibilities and monitor and summarize progress of project.

The ideal candidate is familiar with a variety of the mechanical / biomedical engineering fields concepts practices and procedures. This candidate should have a strong grasp of good design principles and a passion for instilling them in the team. You will rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. This is an onsite position in Denver CO.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Management:

oIdentifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities.
oReviews deliverables prepared by team before passing to management.
oEffectively applies our methodology and enforces project standards.
oPrepares for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures.
oMinimizes the exposure and risk on project.
oEnsures project documents are complete current and stored appropriately.
oTracks and reports team hours and project expenses.

Communication:

oFacilitates team and business meetings effectively.
oHolds regular status meetings with project team.
oKeeps project team well informed of changes within the organization and general corporate news.
oEffectively communicates relevant project information to superiors.
oDelivers engaging informative wellorganized presentations.
oResolves and/or escalates issues as appropriate.
oUnderstands how to facilitate communicate difficult/sensitive information.

Leadership:

oChallenges others to develop as leaders while serving as a role model and mentor.
oInspires coworkers to attain goals and pursue excellence.
oIdentifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change.

Internal Operations:

oSuggests areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions.
oLeads internal teams/task forces
oComplies with and helps to enforce standard policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Biomedical Engineering Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5 years product development management experience with 5 years medical device product development management experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree
  • 5 years of experience managing direct reports

This position is not eligible for employerbased sponsorship.

Disclosure as required by applicablelaw the annual salary range for this position is $98000 $163000. The actual compensation may vary based on geographic location work experience education and skill level. The salary range is CONMEDs good faith belief at the time of this posting.
