Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Palo Alto and Illumio Consultant to join our team and work collaboratively with a leading financial institution customer. In this remote role you will be instrumental in performing Network Micro and Application Segmentation activities utilizing the Palo Alto Firewall and Illumio Host Agent. You will be responsible for understanding the intricate interaction of data flows between various devices possessing the ability to meticulously parse traffic at the port level. A flexible approach to working hours is essential to effectively collaborate with the client and team.

Responsibilities:


Demonstrate expert knowledge of network fundamentals encompassing network protocols (TCP/IP UDP DNS HTTP/HTTPS etc. server and desktop environments network hardware and software (routers switches load balancers) and network management tools (SNMP Syslog).
Possess a strong understanding of Network Micro and Application Segmentation principles and methodologies based on Secure Data Flows.
Exhibit a solid understanding of necessary Data Flows between Users and Applications and Application to Application within a complex enterprise environment.
Be proficient in the creation and implementation of firewall policies to allow or deny traffic data flows based on communicated security criteria and business requirements.
Demonstrate the ability to parse and analyze Firewall log files (Palo Alto preferred) to identify traffic patterns anomalies and validate data flows for rule adaptation or creation.
Have a comprehensive understanding of Access Rules Access Control Lists (ACLs) including source and destination definitions and rule policy enforcement.
Understand protocol communication control and response including active and passive ports and their application in defining secure communication for rule creation.
Possess strong IP Address Subnetting and Management experience including CIDR notation and IP address allocation strategies.
Demonstrate strong analytical skills with the ability to manipulate large amounts of data for analysis using Excel including proficiency in formulas such as vLookup If statements Average Search Pivot Tables Sort and Filters.
Nice to have: Basic scripting skills using Python PowerShell or Ansible for automation and data manipulation.
Leverage at least 5 years of strong operational network experience with Firewalls with primary expertise in Palo Alto and Illumio Host Agent.
Bring 10 Years of Industry Experience working effectively with crossfunctional teams including security application development and infrastructure teams.
Possess strong networking skills with CCNA certification or higher being highly desirable.
Maintain a collaborative attitude and be a strong team player.
Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with other business units and application teams proactively driving application owners towards successful security implementations.
Exhibit a strong sense of understanding the big picture and how various technical components integrate within a larger system.
Possess a strong ability to multitask prioritize activities effectively and work within deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
Be able to provide technical leadership and guidance to less experienced personnel either individually or as part of a team.
Possess excellent communication (verbal and written) writing and interpersonal skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
Previous banking experience is a plus demonstrating an understanding of the unique security and compliance requirements within the financial sector.


Requirements:


Must be able to pass required background check(s).
Possess a Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
A total of 15 years of experience in the Information Technology industry with a minimum of 5 years as a Palo Alto consultant or in a similar role focused on Palo Alto firewall management and implementation.
At least 5 years of strong operational network experience with Firewalls with primary expertise in Palo Alto and Illumio Host Agent.
10 Years of Industry Experience working effectively with crossfunctional teams.
Possess strong networking skills with CCNA certification or higher being highly desirable.
Maintain a collaborative attitude.
Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with other business units and application teams and drive application owners to success.
Exhibit a strong sense of understanding the big picture and how everything comes together.
Possess a strong ability to multitask prioritize activities and work within deadlines.
Able to provide technical leadership to less experienced personnel either individually or as part of a team.
Possess excellent communication writing and interpersonal skills.
Previous banking experience is a plus.
