The Boeing CompanyBoeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking a Senior 737 Mechanical Systems Manager (Level L) to join the team in Renton WA.
Position Overview:
In this pivotal role the manager will lead and inspire a team of firstline leaders and individual contributors engaged in engineering technical and regulatory tasks across Environmental Control Systems (ECS) Flight Controls and Mechanical Hydraulics. The position entails highlevel technical decisionmaking developing and executing project and process plans and implementing policies and procedures. Additionally the manager will set strategic and operational goals for the broader Mechanical Systems organization while acquiring the necessary financial and technical resources to achieve these objectives. This role supports all aspects of the 737 Production Programs including product development/design production flight line operations and fleet support.
Candidates for this position should be adept at providing technical and project management oversight for both Boeing employees and suppliers. They will lead process improvement initiatives and develop innovative methods for managing team workload and resources. A key attribute for success in this role is the ability to cultivate and maintain positive relationships with customers stakeholders peers and executives. Furthermore this position involves significant mentoring development and motivation of teammates within the organization fostering a collaborative and highperforming team environment.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Leads employees and firstlevel managers performing engineering and technical activities.
Develops and implements integrated departmental plans policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies goals objectives.
Collaborates across Program Design Centers and Customer Support to develop plans identify risks and opportunities and integrate schedules
Acquires resources for department activities provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers peers partners and team members.
Provides guidance and approval of technical approaches products and processes.
Leads develops and motivates the teams.
Additional Responsibilities:
Ensures that projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
Establishes and deploys product roadmaps for Mechanical Systems
Holds organization accountable by establishing and executing a team operating rhythm
Work Authorization:
This position is expected to be 100 onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Renton WA.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology) chemistry physics mathematics data science or computer science.
5 years of engineering related experience.
3 years of experience as a management leading engineering teams.
Experience in advising and influencing managers or nonmanagers to meet schedules or resolve technical or operational problems.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Knowledge of certification flow and requirements management.
Previous experience working with Factory Delivery Centers Preflight & Fleet Chiefs Office.
Multifunctional Project Management experience
CrossBCA engineering field experience within Boeing.
Knowledge of established policies and procedures that typically affect management and nonmanagement employees.
Knowledge of skills and abilities required by management and nonmanagement employees to accomplish daily operational responsibilities.
Knowledge of the Engineering Value stream (requirements development through design & integration release Fabrication installation certification and postproduction customer support) is a plus.
Established track record managing experienced engineers and developing highly effective distributed teams
Ability to manage a large team and complex work statement while balancing the needs of multiple collaborators
Strong analytical planning and interpersonal skills with an ability to manage challenging demands
Comfortable in a multifaceted matrixed environment with ability to adapt to various situations
Experienced leader who has built an environment conducive to an aggressive development schedule
Practical experience in managing complex projects particularly geared around quality cost and timeliness of delivery.
