Job Description

Position Posting: Secondary Literacy Facilitator

Qualifications:

  • K12 or 712 Special Education Endorsement Required
  • K12 Reading Specialist Preferred

Employment:Start 2025/26 School Year

Compensation and Benefits:

Base SalaryisPer 2025/26 Salary Schedule plus $8750 Annual Flat Salary Stipend

FPS values professional growth and supports a New Teacher Mentorship Program.

New Teachers are offered a onetime salary advance opportunity to increase their August paycheck. We want to assist in all ways possible through the transition into the teaching profession.

Paid Leave: 4 Personal Days; 9 Sick Days; 5 Bereavement Days; Civic Leave; and Professional Leave as determined by administrators. Certified staff also administer a Sick Leave Bank that all certified staff are eligible to join on an annual basis. Teachers who are parents or guardians of an FPS student can also use up to 4 sick days per year to attend FPSsponsored activities for their child.

Retirement: FPS is a member of the Nebraska Public Employee Retirement System and contributes to the defined plan per Nebraska statute

FPS provides all certified team members long term disability a $10000 individual life insurance policy and quarterly perfect attendance bonus opportunities.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education Level:

  • Bachelors Degree Required
  • Masters Degree Preferred

Certification/Licensure:

  • Nebraska Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement
  • K12 or 712 Special Education Endorsement Required

Experience Desired:

  • At least five years of successful teaching experience
  • Experience Leading Literacy Instruction and Initiatives (Secondary Preferred)

Other Requirements:

  • Good human relations skills
  • Ability to work with students staff administration and parents
  • Knowledge of and continued learning in subject area to be taught
  • Ability to demonstrate appropriate lesson planning model effective teaching strategies and use applicable assessment practices
  • Ability to provide professional learning and ongoing support to adult learners
  • Knowledge of literacy development
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communication
  • Ability to use technology as an instructional tool for data analysis research and presentation

REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Teaching and Learning

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The essential functions of each employees position includes 1 regular dependable inperson attendance on the job; 2 the ability to perform the identified tasks and to possess and utilize the identified knowledge skills and abilities and to perform the identified work activities; and 3 the ability to perform the physical requirements on their specific job description.

Basic:

The Secondary Literacy Facilitator position offers the opportunity to work with excellent district staff. The facilitator is able to sustain involvement with longterm projects and assignments related to student literacy success at the secondary level. Work effectively with teachers students staff specialists administrators parents and community. Able to remain flexible and positive with the demands and assignments of the job. Are able to work within flexible time schedules and demonstrate a professional responsibility for instructions.

Frequent:

  1. Assist in research and provide information and guidance regarding: content evidence based effective instruction assessment and resources focusing on secondary literacy.
  2. Facilitate development implementation and monitoring of MTSS literacy programming at the secondary level utilizing data based decision making framework.
  3. Provide individualized classroombased and/or teambased support to implement a comprehensive literacy program.
  4. Model best literacy teaching practices as needed.
  5. Facilitate the integration of literacy skills and strategies into classrooms and across content areas.
  6. Assist teachers in the collection and analysis of data to improve student achievement and plan for instruction.
  7. Participate in professional development opportunities professional research and reading.
  8. Monitor effectiveness and progress of literacy instruction initiatives and student performance for continuous improvement and next steps.
  9. Other duties may be assigned.

Demonstrate effective conflict management problem solving evaluation organizational and decisionmaking skills. This position works closely with other facilitators and program leaders supporting student literacy.
