Job Description

THE POSITION

The Spotted Lanternfly poses a serious risk to Pennsylvanias agricultural landscape and the health of our communities. These invasive insects can cause extensive damage to our trees plants and crops resulting in annual losses that can reach hundreds of millions of dollars. If you care deeply about safeguarding our agricultural assets and maintaining the richness of our ecosystems the Department of Agriculture is calling for your support! DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Your main duty will be to assess locations for pest management and apply pesticides to manage the spotted lanternfly and its associated hosts. This role requires you to engage with property owners to clarify the details of survey programs as well as to examine trees or install traps on private properties prior to initiating any treatment activities. You will conduct visual inspections of host plants to identify any indications of the target organisms and adhere to the data entry procedures established by the headquarters team. Additionally you will be responsible for performing pest surveys carrying out site evaluations and keeping an updated weekly survey log.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:


Condition of Employment:
  • This position requirespossession of a valid PA noncommercial Class C drivers license or equivalent.
