Position Description:The Freshman Advocate is a 12month position dedicated to supporting firstyear students through leadership in orientation programs mentoring students of concern and promoting their spiritual academic and social development. This role focuses on helping students connect with campus life and enhancing the overall freshman experience. This position reports to the Director of Freshman Experience.
Key Responsibilities: - Leadership and coordination in Earn Your Wings
- Leadership and coordination in Take Flight activities
- Mentoring for students of concern is handled through our Lighthouse program.
- Focus on students growing spiritually academically and socially.
- Serve as a mentor for students and a liaison between students and the university.
- Develop and implement new initiatives that improve the student experience at OC.
- Helps freshmen students connect to the campus through activities and relationships.
- Coordinate and manage social media resources.
- Coordinate and promote events organized by Student Life.
- Work with the Student Success office to help with academic support.
- Be present and active on campus including evening hours.
- Be present at chapel when it is offered.
- Look for opportunities that would better include any underrepresented group in our campus organizations.
Qualifications: - Verbal communication with students faculty and staff both with individuals and in large group settings

- Proficient computer skills (Powerpoint Excel ProPresenter etc. and social media skills
- College Graduate
