Job Description

Job Title: Coordinator Multimedia Production

Location: Office of Communications

Pay Grade: Administrative and Professional Scale Grade A06

Work Calendar: All 12 Month Staff

FLSA Status: Exempt

GENERAL PURPOSE

Reporting to the Assistant Director for Digital Communication the Coordinator of Multimedia Production will support the efforts of Stafford County Public Schools (SCPS) to build connections among staff members students and the community. Through photo video and graphic design projects across both print and digital media the Coordinator will produce compelling informative and creative materials that share events highlight success stories and communicate SCPS priorities.

The successful candidate will have strong technical skills in digital design and videography creative vision to turn general directions into polished products and flexibility to participate in events at nontraditional hours as needed.

MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develops multimedia content to support SCPS objectives

  • Meet with internal clients to determine objectives audience timeline and other aspects of multifaceted communication project requests.
  • Develop proposals for effective design and campaign approaches taking into account appropriate media formats and cost/time considerations.
  • Conceptualize design and produce photo video audio and printed content for diverse audiences.
  • Serve as lead photographer and videographer for division events.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Office of Communications and other offices regarding maintenance of multimedia design resources

Provides graphical design and ensures brand coherence

  • Design and manipulate graphic files based on internal client requests.
  • Build digital files for production (with color palettes layers and links) and ensures visual brand identity is maintained across file formats conversions and hardware configurations.
  • Handles digital to print production and serves as liaison with print vendors and service providers.
  • Reviews existing materials for alignment to brand guidelines and works with relevant offices to update as warranted.
  • Maintains archive of design files.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates degree or higher in fine arts communications graphic design digital design or related field strongly preferred.
  • Two 2 years of experience developing content aiming to inform and motivate audiences across multiple media including digital video production.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge
    • Technology setup for effective photo video and audio collection
    • Best practices and current trends for digital design
  • Skills
    • Digital photography and videography including editing
    • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite or comparable software for video and design production
    • Proficiency with G Suite (Docs Sheets Slides) and/or MS Office (Word Excel PowerPoint)
    • Social media scheduling and account management preferred
  • Abilities
    • Generate creative visual and written materials
    • Develop compelling materials for diverse audiences with different levels of background knowledge about the subject of the material
    • Work cooperatively in a team environment to meet goals
    • Organize and perform work independently
    • Meet deadlines for all work even when working on multiple projects
    • Show sustained effort and enthusiasm in quality and quantity of work

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work environment is primarily inside with controlled noise and temperatures with occasional outdoor responsibilities with exposure to weather conditions.
  • The work is light work requiring exertion of up to 20 pounds of force (and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds) of force to move or lift objects.
  • The following physical and mental abilities are representative of those expected to complete the essential functions of the job: standing for prolonged periods; sitting for prolonged periods; moving the hands wrists or fingers repetitively; moving with force on the back or lower body repetitively; feeling grasping or holding objects by hand; identifying colors visually; identifying objects in low light or distant conditions; communicating via spoken language; communicating via written language; perceiving sounds; making decisions using logic and rational thinking.
