Substitute Custodian Position

Job Definition
Under the direction of an immediate supervisor the Substitute Custodian performs routine custodial tasks to maintain cleanliness safety and functionality within a school environment. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
Example of Duties:
- Sweep mop wax and scrub floors.
- Dust wax wash and polish furniture and woodwork.
- Empty and clean waste receptacles.
- Wash windows walls restrooms and classroom heaters/screens.
- Sweep sidewalks and play areas.
- Move and arrange furniture and equipment as required.
- Clean drinking fountains
- Replace light bulbs and replenish supplies.
- Turn off lights and secure doors and windows.
- Report repair needs
- Watch for vandalism.
- Operate power cleaning equipment.
- May perform limited grounds maintenance and minor nontechnical repairs.
Desirable Qualifications
Training and Experience:
- No prior experience is required.
Knowledge of:
- Methods materials and equipment used in custodial work.
Skills in:
- Following oral and written instructions.
- Using standard cleaning tools and equipment.
- Performing manual labor associated with custodial tasks.
Ability to:
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
VALID CALIFORNIA DRIVERS LICENSE REQUIRED
