King County Department to Public Defense (DPD) seeks to fill one Career Service vacancy as an AdministratorIII for Travel and Trainingsupport in the Directors Office.

TheAdministrator for Travel and Training plays an integral support role in the department and contributes to the service of our clients. It is critically important that our department meet the training needs of our staff communicate training offerings and track and provide continuing education credits for attorneys mitigations specialists and other professional staff. Training also includes organizing staff together for a onetime per year gathering a significant logistical and administrative task.

The person in this position must provide project management support by proactively monitoring tasks timelines and communicationsrelated resources for department and divisions; attorneys paralegals legal assistants mitigation specialists investigators and other administrative staff. It is critical that the person in this position engage as a collaborative team member on various projects providing valuable administrative support.

This position will report to the Department Deputy Director.

Job Duties

Finance Responsibilities

  • Plan and budget for trainings and events review contracts and fees for vendors presenters facilities supplies food and promotion materials process expense and reimbursements in Concur and Oracle in a timely and accurate manner assuring compliance with King County procurement policies
  • Continuously aim for cost savings in travel management event management and training.
  • Handle payment details reimbursement and track disbursements around trainings.
  • Process reports in Oracle.


Other Functions:

  • May supervise other staff.
  • The Department reserves the right to assign additional duties in support of DPDs mission.

This recruitment will be used to create an eligibility pool to fill future Career Service vacancies over the next six 6 months.

Work Schedule and Location
DPD employees enjoy a flexible hybrid inoffice/telecommute workplace structure and this role should expect to work both in the office and remotely. Onsite reporting requirements are determined by the departments operational needs and may be adjusted accordingly.

DPD maintains physical offices in the following locations:
  • Dexter Horton Building 710 Second Avenue Seattle
  • Jefferson Street Building 1401 East Jefferson Seattle
  • Meeker Street Building 420 West Harrison Street Kent

Rotations of work location and
practice area and/or workflow are an essential function and can occur based on business need. This position will be located in our Dexter Horton Building.

The typical workweek is 40 hours per week Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime.

DPD Policies
DPD Ethical Walls Policies and Procedureswill apply to employees such that if you work or have worked for one of DPDs divisions you may be ineligible to work in another division.


Outside Work Policy for Administrative Staffwill apply to employees such that you must receive approval from your supervisor and/or Managing Attorney before being permitted to engage in outside employment for compensation or volunteer.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 this salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidates current experience education skills and abilities related to the position.
