Job Description

Summary

Save the Children is seeking a highly motivated and passionate Fellow to support the humanitarian team with data and information management. The Fellow will contribute to two projects one on humanitarian finance and one on humanitarian program quality data. These projects will be critical to improving the ways of working of the humanitarian team including our new business development processes. Additional areas of work will include exploring our internal online training catalog and support as needed for a Global Hunger Crisis award.

What Youll be Doing (Essential Duties Responsibilities and Impact)

Data & Information Management

  • Conduct a review of existing tools and practices to create a toolkit on proposal budgeting for the humanitarian finance team focusing on budgeting for thematic activities (Child Protection Health Livelihoods etc..
  • Conduct key informant interviews (KIIs) and review existing project literature to collect qualitative and quantitative data on current awards to inform new and upcoming proposals and humanitarian capability statement. Deliver key statements to support humanitarian business development for prioritized areas as agreed with management and based on key donor and country need priorities.

Award Management Support:

  • Provide ad hoc support to the Global Hunger Crisis Award Managers including administrative support to award monitoring copyediting and USG form completion as needed
  • Learn how to use the BHA Application and Award Management Portal (AAMP) and provide assistance as time allows.

Training & Professional Development:

  • The Fellow will have access to Save the Childrens internal learning management system (LMS) Kaya. Kaya has hundreds of training courses available for personal professional development. The Fellow will be able to identify areas of interest for further learning and explore the LMS to complete training as time is available

Key Outcomes

By the end of the Fellowship the Fellow will produce:

  • A comprehensive toolkit on proposal budgeting detailing different tools and practices used for proposal budgeting across different thematic activities.
  • A report on findings from the data review of current awards to inform new and upcoming proposals including areas of success or lessons learned
  • A 2page capability statement highlighting Save the Childrens qualifications and value add in humanitarian response programming

Required Qualifications

  • Experience conducting qualitative and quantitative research; ability to synthesize and analyze research findings
  • Ability to think critically and consider creative solutions evaluate multiple approaches and select the most effective strategies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to articulate ideas and complex ideas clearly report findings and address stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to work collaboratively with peers; capacity to work well with others to complete assigned tasks
  • Proficiency in balancing multiple tasks meeting deadlines and managing time effectively and ensuring responsibilities are met
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Able to handle confidential and proprietary information appropriately and with discretion
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.

Compensation: $20 / hour
