POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director Sales and Business Development Food Ingredients is responsible for managing Hawkins Food business within our current and potential customer base. This individual will utilize their business acumen knowledge of industry products and customers to identify and develop solutions that ultimately drive the growth of Hawkins sales and profit.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sales and Business Development
- Develop longterm positive relationships with strategic customers to ensure our products and company are well known and respected.
- Manage sales and technical support for specific distributors and direct accounts.
- Identify and pursue business opportunities for the food sector.
- Participate in the research and development efforts toward commercialization of new products and improvement of current products.
- Assist in the design and management of research activities with universities government and independent labs.
- Maintain uptodate awareness of industry activities trends technical developments and government regulations.
- Publish and/or present relevant research through scientific and technical organizations.
- Provide technical support to other Industrial/Food Sales Account Managers as needed.
Maintain Professional Status and Reputation
- Participate in educational opportunities and pertinent skill development workshops; Review professional publications; Maintain personal networks; Participate in professional organizations.
REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERRED BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors degree in Meat Science Food Science or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- At least 7 years of experience successfully leading a sales initiative or project
- 5 years of experience in management/supervision
- Prior food industry experience in Production R&D or Product Development preferred.
- Processed meat/poultry experience is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of HACCP GFSI and familiarity with Titles 7 9 and 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations.
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to identify and communicate with key personnel within accounts to further the selling cycle.
- Strong problem solving decision making and prioritization skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel overnight approximately 50.
- Selfstarter with a desire to win. Competitive in nature.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to utilize Microsoft office products and similar IT related programs associated with the job function.
