This is a paid internship working 16 hours per week from July 7th 2025 through December 19th 2025. Current Salary is $19.18 per hour.
Newscast interns learn the skills to become General Assignment (GA) reporters. They are sent into the field to cover local news stories and get to interview community members elected officials and experts on the major Bay Area developments of the day. They learn how to write concise and important stories for a large audience handle daily deadlines and pitch ideas that can turn into strong pieces of newscast content.

This role requires working in KQEDs newly renovated headquarters and working in the field. KQED requires employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID19.
Essential Functions:
Knowledge/Experience Required: A desire to be a reporter to tell local stories that affect the Bay Area and to learn journalism. You do not need any professional journalism experience to apply.
Growth & Development Opportunities: This internship aims to prepare candidates for entry level professional jobs in journalism.
