As Project Manager for Strategic Research Initiatives at the Faculty of Medicine Dentistry and Health Sciences youll play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing groundbreaking health research projects. Youll have the opportunity to work with leading academics manage diverse stakeholders and drive initiatives that address critical global health challenges. This role offers you the chance to make a significant impact on health outcomes while developing your expertise in project management and strategic planning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead Strategic Project Management: Guide academic teams through project lifecycles from ideation to delivery ensuring highquality outcomes and timely .
  • Develop and Implement Project Plans: Manage budgets timelines and resources effectively to meet project objectives and mitigate risks.
  • Foster Stakeholder Relationships: Build and maintain strong connections with internal and external partners to enhance project development and delivery.
  • Provide Strategic Guidance: Assess project progress recommend improvements and ensure alignment with the Facultys strategic goals and best practices.

You may be a great fit if:

You are an experienced project manager with a strong background in health research or healthcare possessing excellent interpersonal skills strategic thinking abilities and a proven track record of delivering complex projects in collaborative environments.

You may also:

  • Have a relevant tertiary qualification with significant experience in project management or business development.
  • Possess exceptional communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrate strong financial acumen and proficiency in budget management and resource allocation.
  • Have experience in developing business cases and grant applications particularly in the health sector.
  • Be adept at working in complex ambiguous environments and making strategic decisions.
  • Show proficiency in Microsoft Office suite especially Excel and other project management tools.

Your new team Faculty of Medicine Dentistry and Health Sciences
The Faculty of Medicine Dentistry & Health Sciences is made up of 6 schools. It has an enviable research record and is the University of Melbournes largest faculty in terms of management of financial resources employment of academic and professional staff teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate (including research higher degree) students and the conduct of basic and applied research. The Facultys annual revenue is approximately $750m with approximately $400m income related to research activities. The Faculty has a student teaching load in excess of 8500 equivalent fulltime students including approximately 1500 research higher degree students. The Faculty has approximately 3000 staff comprising 800 professional staff and 2200 research and teaching staff (plus approximately 4000 honorary staff).
