East Central Alberta Catholic Separate School Division invites applications for the position of Principal at St. Thomas Aquinas School in Provost Alberta effective 22nd of August 2025. The Division is seeking an exceptional and inspirational principal who will work collaboratively with the school division to create a positive school climate where all students are encouraged to learn and succeed to their highest potential.
St. Thomas Aquinas School is a PreK12 school with approximately 225 students and an allocation of 14 FTE teachers and 6 FTE support staff.
The school believes in promoting Catholic values throughout the school and provides a full complement of core academics fine arts technology CTF/CTS and physical education. St. Thomas Aquinas School strives to make a safe and positive environment for all students and staff; to provide a place where they feel confident and comfortable in being the best they can be.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be a practicing Catholic who demonstrates a commitment to the Catholic Faith.
- Create a culture of high expectations for students and staff and collaborate effectively with administrators teachers support staff parents and the greater community.
- Cultivate a climate of mutual respect with students promoting engagement and have a proven ability to build relationships.
- Provide leadership in literacy assessment and reporting.
- Demonstrate effective communication facilitation and problemsolving skills.
- Promote and model lifelong learning for students and staff.
- Effectively plan organize and manage the human and physical resources of the school.
- Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Facilitate capacity to provide collaborative leadership and engagement of stakeholders.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of technology to enhance pedagogy.
- Lead and demonstrate a commitment to student success.
- Demonstrate flexibility and a readiness to take on roles and challenges as they arise to meet School and Division goals.
- Possesses an Alberta Teaching Certificate.
- Has completed or eligible to complete the Leadership Quality Standard Certification.
- Will lead the schools administrative team and participate in division training and initiatives.
- Has experience with elementary junior high and senior high levels would be an asset.
