The Aerospace Corporation is hiring an Electromechanical Control Engineer for an opportunity located in El Segundo CA.
The Vehicle Systems Division (VSD) sits at the center of the ideas and data behind current and future systems supplying innovative research and development; technical evaluations during the acquisition process; conceptual and detailed design; assembly integration and test; and operational support. Comprised primarily of highly trained mechanical and aerospace engineers VSD provides national expertise in the areas of vehicle engineering; guidance navigation and controls; robotics; electromechanical devices; embedded systems; fluid mechanics; propulsion; thermal control; orbital mechanics; mechanisms; structures; structural dynamics; and dynamic environments.
The Electromechanical Control Department (ECD) is charged with the responsibility of providing technical support in the areas of hardware used for spacecraft and launch vehicles as well as terrestrial and aerial applications. We specialize in mission critical control sensor and actuator including Electric Motors Gyroscopes and IMUs Accelerometers Gimbals Steering Mirrors Encoders & Resolvers Star Trackers GPS Receivers Capacitive & Inductive Sensors Servo Mechanism Thrust Vector Control Actuators and Reaction Wheels.
Work Model
This position will be a hybrid work model and offer partially remote with some onsite work 34 days) required in El Segundo CA.
What Youll Be Doing
As an Associate Member of the Technical Staff in ECD you will conduct technical studies and experimental investigations to support customer programs.
Technical studies often involve the analysis simulation evaluation or testing of control systems and their components.
Experimental investigations in the Mechatronics Research Laboratory (managed by ECD) and/or other Aerospace labs may include controller design and implementation data reduction and visualization sensor and actuator performance evaluation and electrooptical systems calibration and alignment.
Supporting multiple programs clearly communicating the results of studies while working with both internal and external customers and stakeholders as a technical authority consultant primary investigator or project leader.
Communicating both orally and in writing with higher management program offices customers contractors and colleagues.

What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university programin Electrical Mechanical Aerospace Engineering or related disciplines (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months)
01 year of industry work experience
Coursework and demonstrated project experience in control systems especially in a lab environment
Experience in laboratory experimentation developing test strategies experiment design and integration and test
A strong working knowledge of electronics mechanical design control systems inertial sensors and actuators for spacecrafts and/or launch vehicles
Proficiency with any of the following tools: MATLAB/Simulink dSPACE LabVIEW SolidWorks C/C Python
Willingness to occasionally travel and to work offbusiness hours to support customer needs approximately 10 (as required)
This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
Demonstrated ability to provide and implement innovative solutions to challenging technical problems
Experience with electromechanical components (lab setup data acquisition and communication) microcontrollers and environmental testing (vacuum)
Familiarity with one or more of the following: mechanical design structural analysis servo control motors electronics signal processing guidance and navigation realtime software development rapid control prototyping GPS receiver testingand associated algorithms small satellite development unmanned aircraft systems (UAS UAV drones) or robotics.

Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
