Our Modifications & Upgrades (MAU) Team plays a vital role in extending the life of inservice aircraft interiors by implementing cuttingedge modifications to commercial seating cabin attendant seating galleys and more. Our goal To enhance airline and passenger satisfaction through innovative solutions.
Were looking for a Certification Engineer to bring expertise in aircraft interiors flammability requirements and certification. In this role youll lead compliance efforts for TSOA seats and related furniture ensuring that our modifications meet federal and industry safety standards.
What You Will Do
- Lead flammability compliance efforts for commercial seating modifications.
- Conduct testing analysis and design reviews to meet regulatory requirements 14 CFR 25.853 14 CFR 25.869 Heat Release SCs etc..
- Develop and validate compliance plans and documentation for TSO PMA and STC approvals.
- Oversee flammability testing (e.g. Bunsen burner oil burner OSU heat release/smoke density per 14 CFR 25 App F.
- Evaluate projects for feasibility cost and lead time.
- Provide technical leadership while collaborating across multifunctional teams.
- Mentor and train team members to foster innovation and continuous improvement.
What You Will Learn:
1. Advanced Aircraft Interiors Certification & Compliance
- Deepen their knowledge of FAA regulations 14 CFR Part 21 Part 25 and TSO standards) related to flammability compliance.
- Gain handson experience in certification testing documentation and regulatory approval processes for aircraft interior modifications.
2. Flammability Testing & Material Science
- Master industrystandard testing (e.g. Bunsen burner oil burner OSU heat release/smoke density per 14 CFR 25 App F).
- Learn how different materials react to heat fire and smoke and how to optimize selections for safety and performance.
3. CrossFunctional Collaboration & Leadership
- Work closely with engineering program management manufacturing and regulatory bodies to deliver compliant highquality aircraft modifications.
- Develop strong technical leadership and project management skills by leading compliance efforts on multiple projects.
4. RealWorld ProblemSolving & Innovation
- Learn how to troubleshoot complex compliance challenges related to aircraft interiors.

Qualifications you Must have:
- This position requires a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Aerospace or Civil Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree and 3 years in the appropriate discipline.
Qualifications we Prefer:
- 35 years of experience in certification/testing and aircraft cabin interiors preferably commercial seating.
- Familiarity with testing and substantiation for Bunsen burner tests oil burner tests and OSU heat release / smoke density per 14 CFR 25 App F
- Working knowledge of certification under 14 CFR Part 21 and Part 25
- Knowledge for TSO/PMA/STC/TC qualification and certification.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with crossfunctional teams.
- Clear communication and technical leadership skills

The salary range for this role is 55000 USD 107000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.
