This position is a hybrid role requiring employees to work from our headquarters location in Seattle WA; or Atlanta GA every Tuesday and Wednesday and remote all other days.

Do you like designing and building mission critical AWS infrastructure with scalability security and observability at its core If so we are on the lookout for a highly skilled and motivated engineer to play a key role in shaping infrastructure serving upwards of 50M monthly visitors.

As a Sr. Cloud Provisioning Engineer on our compute team you will help us to architect and build a platform that scales while ensuring a secure cost effective and reliable ecosystem. The Role

• You will be a key architectural contributor as Redfin grows and scales our platform which runs all of Redfin and Rents cloud compute services.

• You will define the next level of maturity for our platform as it grows. Model how well stay ahead of capacity and growth demands and ensure observability is core to our platform in a cost effective way.

• You will improve the existing provisioning system for Engineers to interface with enabling developers to quickly deploy and manage various compute flavors (Kubernetes EC2 Lambda).

• You will define the shared responsibilities model between infrastructure and feature developers

• You will aim to automate everything nothing is handcrafted infrastructure as code is your nature

• You will drive discussions and build consensus of how best to isolate our applications in a scalable secure and robust architecture.

• You will identify trends happening elsewhere in the industry and investigate how to apply them to the team or Redfin as a whole

• You will improve those around you by driving team efficiency improvements mentoring teammates to strengthen individual skills and share your learnings

• You will help drive our mission to radically change the way people make one of the biggest decisions of their lives.

• You will define own and scale all aspects of our AWS infrastructure ensuring optimal performance cost allocation and resilience.

About You

• You have 5 years of experience in Software or Systems Development

• You have 5 years experience with cloud providers (AWS GCP or Azure)

• You have 2 years of experience in Linux system administration / bash scripting

• You have 2 years of experience with Terraform

• You have direct experience provisioning and maintaining cloud services at scale.

• You have experience building centralized tooling to manage distributed systems at scale.

• You have expert level development skills in at least one language (e.g. Python Java)

• You have expertise in designing analyzing and troubleshooting largescale distributed systems.

• You have the ability to lead complex technical discussions with a variety of audiences including Software and Systems Engineers and Senior Management

• You are a thought leader able to identify solutions to difficult problems and lead these solutions to implementation

• You are a natural mentor who can coach and guide more junior members of the team

• You have the ability to consult with other teams on system design and capacity planning

• You have a Bachelors degree in Computer Science Computer or Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience

• You are able to work in an oncall rotation supporting both Kubernetes and other Redfin infrastructure. Oncall expectation will be one week every 45 weeks.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

• Networking knowledge in distributed systems for onprem and cloud

• Experience in web application network or operating system security

The compensation information below is provided in compliance with all applicable disclosure requirements.

Base Pay Range: $146500..00. Actual base pay will depend on varying circumstances including the position location individual qualifications market finances and other operational business needs. Compensation may also include bonuses and equity.
