THIS POSITION IS ON THE OXFORD COLLEGE OF EMORY UNIVERSITY CAMPUS 36 MILES EAST OF ATLANTA.

Overview of Residential Education and Services

Residential Education and Services (RES) at Oxford College of Emory University serves as the primary operational and leadership team managing the four residential communities on campus. The RES team is responsible for delivering a structured outcomedriven residential experience that enhances student engagement retention and overall satisfaction. By collaborating with academic and campus life offices RES ensures that residential programs align with institutional priorities and provide highimpact opportunities that support both academic and personal growth.

Overview of Residence Life Coordinator Role

The Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) position is a livein professional role essential to the operational success of Oxford Colleges residential program. RLCs oversee student leadership teams manage crisis response and implement initiatives that integrate academic and social life within residential communities. They play a key role in student retention by proactively addressing challenges serving as primary contacts for student support services and maintaining a 24/7/365 oncall coverage rotation to ensure campus safety and wellbeing.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Develops presents tracks and evaluates educational programs for students in designed residential communities.
  • Manages the daily operation of undergraduate and/or graduate residential facilities.
  • May hire train and supervise interns and graduate and undergraduate resident directors.
  • Serves as a conduct officer for the campus.
  • Adjudicates all levels of conduct cases including suspension and expulsion from the campus.
  • Advises resident hall directors on the proper adjudicating techniques and sanctions.
  • Serves as the first point of contact for students parents regarding housing situations.
  • May coordinate Housings involvement in campus life activities.
  • Serves on and chairs committees to develop long range goals and strategic plans.
  • Counsels students on mental health issues as necessary and is involved in the referral and follow up of residents to mental health professionals.
  • Serves as a liaison between faculty academic department leadership and students.
  • May coordinate renovation repair and maintenance needs of designated residential facilities.
  • May teach a resident assistant class.
  • Manages special projects.
  • Serves in the rotation of oncall staff who respond to emergencies involving students.
  • May represent Housing at admission preview days and act as a liaison with the Admission office for student visits.
  • May manage a programming budget.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

RLC Position Duties and Responsibilities

Community Development

  • Develops presents tracks and evaluates educational and social programs for students within their assigned residential community.
  • Provides opportunities for students to connect with the ATL Bound initiative focused on the retention and persistence of students.
  • Provides a visible presence to all residential students within their assigned residence hall.
  • Manages a community programming budget focused on student connections and community interactions.

Academic Engagement

  • Develop implement and oversee LivingLearning Communities (LLCs) in collaboration with academic and campus partners to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Serves as a liaison between faculty academic department leadership and students.
  • Utilize assessment tools to measure student engagement academic success and community impact within LLCs.

Operations and Facilities

  • Manages the daily operation of assigned undergraduate residential facilities.
  • Assist with the coordination of renovation repair and maintenance needs of designated residential facilities.

Staff Supervision

  • Hire train and supervise undergraduate resident assistants.
  • RLCs will conduct weekly/biweekly 1on1s with resident assistants to ensure proper community engagement and connection with all residential students.
  • RLCs will hold weekly RA staff meetings to ensure Ras are up to date with campus and departmental needs.

Student Conduct and Care Initiatives

  • Provides education to students to become knowledgeable of the Oxford College Student Code of Conduct.
  • Serves as a hearing officer for their residential community and Oxford College campus. May be asked to advise the Peer Review Board.
  • Serves as a point of contact for students parents regarding housing situations.
  • Track and follow up on student conduct wellbeing and academic intervention cases to ensure effective resolution and student development.

Crisis Response

  • Designated essential personnel responsible for maintaining residential operations and student support during emergencies including inclement weather public health crises and campus disruptions.
  • Serves in the rotation of oncall staff who respond to emergencies involving students.
  • Counsels students on mental health issues as necessary and is involved in the referral and follow up of residents to mental health professionals.
  • Led emergency preparedness efforts including resident assistant (RA) training evacuation drills and community crisis management.
  • Maintained housing operations and student engagement during campus closures and emergency situations.

Campus Involvement

  • May coordinate Housings involvement in campus life activities. Serves on and chairs committees to develop long range goals and strategic plans.
  • Act as a liaison with the Oxford College enrollment management team for student recruitment events and visits.
  • Collaborate effectively with a diverse range of campus partners including faculty staff and student organizations to support and enhance programs and initiatives that align with the colleges mission and values.

Departmental Responsibilities

  • Assist with course curriculum design development and facilitation of the resident assistant course.
  • RLCs are assigned to one of the following collateral responsibilities: Housing Operations RA Training and Development RA Recruitment and Selection and Student Conduct. Collateral responsibilities will be reviewed on an annual basis and determined by departmental leadership to align with the college and residential community needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelors degree in student personnel higher education counseling or a related field.
  • One year of residential life housing or programming experience.
  • A masters degree is preferred.
  • Must be able to live in a residence hall or other oncampus housing facility.
