Job Description

Overview

The Clinical Psychologist will provide teaching services to residents within Cone Healths Family Medicine Residency Program.The educational mission will include curricular management group and individual resident teaching.The Psychologist will partner with residents and perform patient assessments and make diagnoses to patients with mental emotional or behavioral health challenges. The psychologists main focus is on resident education for behavioral health issues commonly seen in the scope of a Family Medicine clinic.Working under close supervision this role delivers psychological treatment through counseling and other evidencebased therapy methods with the goal of returning patients to optimal function.

Responsibilities

Supports the completion of comprehensive psychological assessments including interviews psychological testing and diagnostic evaluations to understand patients emotional and mental health needs.
Assists with diagnosing and developing treatment plans for individuals with various mental health conditions such as anxiety depression trauma and mood disorders.
Helps provide evidencebased therapeutic interventions such as cognitivebehavioral therapy (CBT) psychotherapy and counseling to help clients address psychological and emotional challenges.
Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams including psychiatrists social workers and nurses to ensure coordinated care and treatment planning.
Maintains accurate and confidential patient records documenting assessment findings treatment plans and progress notes.
Educates patients and their families about mental health conditions coping strategies and selfcare techniques.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:Required: Doctorate Degree in Psychology

EXPERIENCE:

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:Required: Valid North Carolina professional license as a Psychologist; BLS (CPR)American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
